Tonight it is; White Stripes - Elephant White Stripes - Icky Thump Green Day - american idiot Snow Patrol - Eyes Open These are all a good test to measure your kit! Earlier this week; Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Elvis, Willie, Diana Krall, Dead Can Dance, Roger Waters, Feist, and Tool. Pulling out all the reference gear which means I am in "hifi" listening mode until this all soaks in. Then it will be back to listening to music again. |

I don't know Evolution but I love Anne Drummond's work on the fabulous Kenny Barron disc: Canta Brazil. Keith Jarrett? I will have to think about that. You have to decide if you want solo or the great trio. Now playing: Bye Bye Blackbird. I have been reading all the "Best of 2007" lists. Interesting to see which critics have my taste. Certain albums made many lists, but many albums got just one or two votes. One that got best votes and that I have been playing a lot is Tierney Sutton- On the Other Side. More on the "best" later. My wife works graveyard shift, 12:30 am to 9 am! Ironically, I am the night owl of the family, always have been. I am 'semi retired'. That is, I work construction in the summer and in winter I do a little heating work at my leisure, that is after noon and evenings! It is always a big shock when the first "real" job of the summer starts! Thelonious Monk and John Coltrane in 1957 playing Ruby my Dear. Man, they were so far ahead of their time! I guess that is what "timeless music" means. |

Just kind of fun to share what you are listening to. I'm not a nibbler or sampler (unless I'm listening to a free sampler or the radio). I don't think most albums were intended by the artist to be listened to that way. That would be like looking exclusively at one corner of a painting and not seeing the rest. You may like what you see but you aren't viewing the big/whole picture. |

If it is new to me, something I had not heard and picked off of a recommendation I am about 98% / 2%. The 2% is where I can not listen to the whole album CD and will not listen to it again. The 20% is if I bought something for a particular cut or am short on time. Besides, it gets tedious to skip songs on an LP. |
