Silver Member Username: Phil_salisburyPost Number: 567 Registered: Sep-06 | Ummm, looks more like a regular ported enclosure than a t-line enclosure. Did he tune the port to a frequency you wanted or did he tune it to the Fs of the subwoofer?? |
Gold Member Username: Denali_on_22sThe kids love my rhyme... Post Number: 4750 Registered: Feb-06 | That's a good question, Phil. I don't know the odds and ends of designing a transmission-line enclosure, but I do know t-lines are huge and the specs of this box have the enclosure being over 8 cubes for one 15. I think he knows what he's doing. |
Silver Member Username: Phil_salisburyPost Number: 568 Registered: Sep-06 | Okay, well, that seems rather odd to me that he didn't inform you at what frequency this design is to perform at for the subwoofer being used because T-line enclosure's are designed as such that the port is tuned to match that of the subwoofers Fs frequency. So, for example, say I want to t-line a Fi Q 15, I would need a port area equal to the SD of that subwoofer ( 125.5 sq.in ) at a length of 136" to bring the tuning of that t-line in line with the Fs (24.9hz). That means the area where the subwoofer resides has to be within the same port size parameters of the whole port. Not a large chamber and then the t-line part of the port where it begins from that chamber. However, there are various methods of designs in how t-line speaker cabinets are done to perform given at what frequency's they are designed to attenuate and control output. His is one method of design out of many to perform in the manner trying to be achieved a level of performance. I didn't say it a good or bad design, merely commenting on the design and nothing more. |

Gold Member Username: Denali_on_22sThe kids love my rhyme... Post Number: 4775 Registered: Feb-06 | "Your design design has a static Fb of 27.52Hz and an effective in-cabin response of ~20Hz - 85Hz. For your woofer's protection, I would advise setting your subsonic filter at 30Hz for daily use (especially at high volume) however, if you'd like to test out the design's low-end capabilities, you can turn it off and play at low to moderate volume even below 20Hz." That is word of mouth from the man himself. Looks like its going to be in beast mode. I'll get a vid the moment I get it installed, haha. |
