Star inks deal with DN for US DTH viewers

( 5 March 2008 9:00 pm)

MUMBAI: Star has signed a multi-year and multi-channel distribution deal with US-based satellite TV service provider DN.

As per the deal, Dish will provide five Asian television channels of Star to South Asian and Chinese viewers.

Star's two Hindi entertainment channels Star Plus and Star One will be included on Dish Network from 19 March. Beginning 26 March, three of Star's Mandarin-language channels - Star Chinese Channel, Star Chinese Movies 2 and Channel [V] Taiwan - will be added to the network.

"The deal of Star with DN is its biggest US distribution pact to date and will complement Dish Network's existing South Asian and Chinese channel lineup," an official release said.

Incidentally, Star's Asian channels Star Plus and Star One, Hindi news channel Star news and the South Indian Vijay channels are also available in the US market on DirTV.

It maybe that the channels are still in the testing stage, so I wouldn't start setting your boxes to any transponder frequency, and trying to find a satellite (61.5W) that may be out of range for some on the west coast, until later this month, as they may move things around. (yes...they do this)

Once they get things settled in, a transponder change will be posted, it may turn out that they will also put these channels on a west coast bird, we will have to wait till things are established on 61.5W first to see if mirror channels are setup on another satellite.

Please don't swamp use with requests for the TP frequencies until this is out of testing stages, other members have tried to find these channels, some have and some haven't, please be patient and wait till the end of this month.
