I finally have a fried fta unit, viewsat lite went dead yesterday.

Yes it went funny with the ecm yesterday, but was fine when I put new file in yesterday. On about 3 hours or so after downloading file and it just went dead, no noise or anything, just lost power.

You can hit switch on back until the cows come home but to no avail.

As a hoot I tried hooking up to null cable and loading factory, but hey, who`s kidding who, no power!

I took her apart checked connections, fuse is good, even as last resort put peice of foil around fuse to make 100% sure, but she is dead.

Even tapped gently all over unit, as any good backyard electrician would do, she`s dead.

Someone will surely say you have a clone, suppose it`s possible, but did check before using and it had all the ear marks of a original vs, plastic wrapping all around it, etc. and I got it from sky high electronics same as my other vs plat that never died. plus I have been using it for aprox 1 year, so I doubt it`s a clone. THINGS DO DIE!

This is my 5th FTA, so I guess it was my turn to have one die.

I used to jtag dish 2700 ird etc, so if anybody has a link to a jtag instruction for a vs plat lite, by all means let me know

- Turn auto roll OFF
- Load latest BIN or any recent bin
- Make sure auto roll stays off after load bin
- Yo may have to enter keys manually

My VS Xtreme never went down like people reported
But also people reported LK's patches work too

Tiger,
NO promises but can you try this for me.
there are multiple wires coming from the power board to the main board, can you unplug it at the main board, also there are multi wires going from main board to front panel, unplug at main board.
after a minute plug them both in ,don't push too hard or you will crack the board.now see if there is any life in it.when you turn receiver On wait for a while don't keep turning it off and on.post results

Well T.W.
Power comes from power supply
And yo must damaged power transistor next to transformer
Assuming all other contacts are fine

All I can tell yo
VS extended their warrantee to 2 years
Yo may have to contact theit tech support for where to go

If ya can get another one from a bud, U can try cloning em ..master to slave...otherwise U'll need a local repair shop or use viewsatusa.com , like KT stated..

Thanks to EVERYBODY!!! that responded, I had the hood off AGAIN like African suggested, I unhooked everything as he suggested etc and nothing was happening.

I then left it on while I started to take the front panel off, I took the 2 screws out and then began trying to take it off by pressing 2 spring hinges, as I was roughly trying to open it suddenly came on.

I guess we will have to give credit to AFRICAN now African dont let this go to your head, but YOU ARE PRETTY COOL

It works, 3 cheers to AFRICAN!!

thanks to EVERYBODY that responded, will redo my will and leave all possesions to African, my people will be in touch with your people.

QUESTION NOW IS, HOW LONG WILL IT LAST.

Obviously U jarred something thats loose, had poor contact, etc..so its a hardware component issue..and will reappear..and I would definitely change out the fuse..
