Silver Member Username: 2pacalypse1971Sandusky, Oh Post Number: 484 Registered: Jul-05 | i got a mbquart RAA 1000 with a bass remote, i never used the bass remote so that fairly brand new, 200 shipped it could be yours, 1000 x 1 at one ohm, be perfect for them especially for stock electrical system |
Bronze Member Username: Dupe112309Post Number: 43 Registered: Feb-08 | the type r's come either 4 ohm or 2 ohm i haven't bought them yet...how would i need to wire them? |
Silver Member Username: 2pacalypse1971Sandusky, Oh Post Number: 485 Registered: Jul-05 | i'd reccommed the dual 4, that way they will wire down to one ohm, and even in ur not interested in my amp or whatnot, its a lot easier findin a amp with 1000 watts at one ohm rather than two, and cheaper |
Bronze Member Username: Dupe112309Post Number: 44 Registered: Feb-08 | would an amp that was rated somewhere between 300-400 rms for each channel be sufficient for the 2 500w rms subs? or should i really try to find a good amp that will put out that 500x2? |
Bronze Member Username: Indoeli211Post Number: 13 Registered: Feb-08 | i have 2 type r 12s i have a 1000x1 only a 1 channel amp it pounds rockford fastogate is the shix.. 1000wats rms shouold do ... i also have a 500 rf amp on 7 6by9s eheheh |
Gold Member Username: Bnd_rulezPhoenix, AZ USA Post Number: 1586 Registered: Mar-05 | Get the AQ1200D. 1200X1 at 1 ohm. http://www.audioque.com/aq/AQamps.htm Plus it's only $249 right now. I have a Type R, and it can easily handle over 500w. |
Gold Member Username: N2audioLawrence, Ks USA Post Number: 1488 Registered: Mar-04 | 300/400 each would be plenty. 500 ea would give you slightly more output, but barely enough to notice. |
Gold Member Username: Nd4spd18Northwest PA Post Number: 6437 Registered: Jul-06 | x2 AQ 1200d amp would be great for those subs |
New member Username: Hittin_so_hardVilla rica, Georgia Usa Post Number: 9 Registered: Feb-08 | i got 2 alpine type r 12's and an audioque 1200d amp and it sounds great and was only 249.......it can easily pull more than 500rms per sub |
Bronze Member Username: Dupe112309Post Number: 47 Registered: Feb-08 | so im lookin at kicker amps right now...could go with zx1000.1 and run it at 2 ohms for 500x2rms for $287.....but would i need any more power or would 500 be good enough and say 600w not really make too big a difference? |
Gold Member Username: Nd4spd18Northwest PA Post Number: 6447 Registered: Jul-06 | You cannot use that amp. You need a 1 ohm stable amp for those subs, like the AQ. |
Gold Member Username: Bnd_rulezPhoenix, AZ USA Post Number: 1593 Registered: Mar-05 | The AQ is cheaper, has more power and is just as good as, if not better than the Kicker amp. |
Gold Member Username: Nd4spd18Northwest PA Post Number: 6457 Registered: Jul-06 | I wouldn't go that far...... I'd still say the kicker is the better amp. It won't work for his subs though. |
Gold Member Username: Bnd_rulezPhoenix, AZ USA Post Number: 1600 Registered: Mar-05 | I stand corrected. |
Gold Member Username: Nd4spd18Northwest PA Post Number: 6470 Registered: Jul-06 | Oh I didn't mean it like that..... you're entitled to your opinion but mine is that they are both good amps but the Kicker's a little better. Like I said though, for those subs he needs a 1 ohm stable amp. |
Gold Member Username: Bnd_rulezPhoenix, AZ USA Post Number: 1604 Registered: Mar-05 | I took no offense, I am still learning. |
Bronze Member Username: Dupe112309Post Number: 49 Registered: Feb-08 | what's the reason i need a 1 ohm stable amp? the r's come in 2 and 4 ohm if that gives me any certain amps to look at....anybody got any suggestions? i'll look for that aq. is any special wiring needed for 1 ohm or any add-ons i'll need (like for the battery)? i had stock system before and now adding 2 amps. |
Gold Member Username: Nd4spd18Northwest PA Post Number: 6471 Registered: Jul-06 | In the first post you said Dual 4 ohm, so I thought thats what your subs were. If you didn't buy them yet, you can get the Dual 2 ohm, then you could use the Kicker amp or any other 2 ohm stable amp. For a 1 ohm stable amp you would get the dual 4s. |
Bronze Member Username: Dupe112309Post Number: 51 Registered: Feb-08 | so which setup would you reccomend?.....kicker zx1000.1 with 2 2ohm r's or the aq 1200d with 2 4ohm r's? the aq is 250 while the kicker is 287...so not too big a difference. thanks a lot for helpin a new kid out. if i have 2 amps runnin in my car one kicker 650.4 and say the 1000.1, would i need to do anything with the electrical of the car? |
Gold Member Username: Nd4spd18Northwest PA Post Number: 6478 Registered: Jul-06 | I'd go with the Kicker amp....... your stock electrical system may be alright with that but theres no way to know for sure. |
Bronze Member Username: Dupe112309Post Number: 52 Registered: Feb-08 | what could happen? lol anything serious? also heard the type r's sound better in a sealed enclosure. was thinking about going for a dual enclosure.....but im really lookin for soem good bump comin down the road. ported or sealed? |
Gold Member Username: Nd4spd18Northwest PA Post Number: 6482 Registered: Jul-06 | Do ported, still sounds good and more output....... if you draw too much current from your electrical you will see the voltage drop below 12 volts if goes you'd just have to turn it down or get HO alternator. |
Bronze Member Username: Dupe112309Post Number: 53 Registered: Feb-08 | alright thanks a lot M.S. you really know your stuff. |
Bronze Member Username: Dupe112309Post Number: 54 Registered: Feb-08 | i think i'm going to go with 0/1 ga kicker amp kits for both amps just incase i upgrade or anything |
Bronze Member Username: Dupe112309Post Number: 55 Registered: Feb-08 | would a capacitor be necessary? what rating should it be be if i need one? |
Gold Member Username: Nd4spd18Northwest PA Post Number: 6531 Registered: Jul-06 | No capacitor they don't help Kicker amp kits are very good |
Bronze Member Username: Dupe112309Post Number: 56 Registered: Feb-08 | thinkin about goin through crutchfield for a ported box....could get a dual with 1.25 cu.ft/sub or a dual with 1.75/sub...would bigger be better? got 2000 mustang cpe so i gotta measure and everything. both boxes would work as for the sub needs between .75 and 2.0 cu.ft |
Gold Member Username: Nd4spd18Northwest PA Post Number: 6539 Registered: Jul-06 | Definetly no prefab boxes, they suck bad except the sealed ones, those are just ok. www.fishercustoms.com www.woodlawncabinetry.com You can get a good box there. The box makes more difference than the subs in it............ |
