Silver Member Username: MercsableKalamazoo, MI USA Post Number: 187 Registered: Apr-06 | Right now I have a hifonics bxi2006 amp and its rated at 2000wrms at 1ohm and I want get 0 gauge wire but the power connector says its only big enough to fit a 2 gauge wire. Is there any way to connect the 0 gauge wire to this? I have seen that 2 gauge should be enough for 2000w but most kits I find that are 2 gauge say theyre only good enough up to 1500w. |

Gold Member Username: Nd4spd18Northwest PA Post Number: 5879 Registered: Jul-06 | That amp is overrated, it will only do 1500-1600w So yes 2 gauge wire would work for it. But you may as well do it right and use 0 gauge. You should be able to stuff it into the terminal. |

Silver Member Username: MercsableKalamazoo, MI USA Post Number: 190 Registered: Apr-06 | well what I am saying is will it be worth it to upgrade from a 4 gauge to a 0 gauge wire in the short run? Will there be a significant difference in the amount of power my amp can now put out? I know it wont really cost that much to upgrade, but if I can save my money Id like to. I just want to know if I am getting the full potential out of my amp, whatever that might be. |

Don't forget about added resistance from the 4 awg heating up with too much current), and your amp will run cooler, meaning it will last longer. I'd do it now. |

Silver Member Username: MercsableKalamazoo, MI USA Post Number: 192 Registered: Apr-06 | ok thanks. so I do plan on upgrading to 0 gauge wire and eventually upgrading the amp. I have an 18" RD Alpha which is rated at 2000wrms, so what would be a good amp to power this? Something like 2500-3000w? |

Silver Member Username: MercsableKalamazoo, MI USA Post Number: 194 Registered: Apr-06 | What if I just combined an additional amp with the amp I have now? |
Gold Member Username: CblazeRock island, Tenesssee Us Post Number: 1626 Registered: Sep-07 | that amps is fine.400-500 watts will not make a difference to the human ear.when your running that kinda power.would just be a waiste of money. |
Gold Member Username: Nd4spd18Northwest PA Post Number: 5900 Registered: Jul-06 | You can't run 2 different amps to 1 sub |
Gold Member Username: Big_edge_headMilwaukee, Wisconsin IF IT DOESNT... Post Number: 1299 Registered: Mar-07 | What if you powered each coil separatly, that would be possible... but it would not be very practical |
Gold Member Username: JuliobSanto DomingoDominican Re... Post Number: 5147 Registered: Dec-05 | you can use an amp per coil. You just need to be careful at the time you're setting them |
