BAD NEWS
As of March of this year (2008) AMC-14 will replace EchoStar 3 @ 61.5* All the Desi people
here better hurry and hookup with Anik F3.

GOOD NEWS
AMERICOM-14 (AMC-14) is a BSS satellite also built by Lockheed Martin with 32 (24 MHz) Ku-band transponders each supported by a 150 watt TWTA; like AMC-16, the spacecraft features the highest levels of redundancy on core components such as amplifiers, receivers, commanding beam and computer control systems. The satellite will provide Direct to Home services in the United States from a slot to be determined. AMC-14 will be the first BSS satellite operated in SES AMERICOM's domestic fleet.

Like the King Tapeman would say, you can take this to the Bank.

You can call me Friday, just the facts.

DISH will have 3 sats launched this year that will be used for their service. AMC 14 will go to 61.5 freeing up Echostar 3 from it job for use else where. The second sat will be and Echostar sat that will go to 110 and free up either Echostar 6 or 8 or both to be used elsewhere. The Third sat will be a Ceil CAnadian sat that will go up to the 129 slot to replace the failing Echostar 5 sat. The other sat launched will be for the CHinese and has no use for DISH.

DISH will luanch one sat per quarter in all 4 quarters this year. THEy have only announced 100 hd channels but they will have the capacity to do many more than that once they get all the sats up and running. IF it wasn't for the launch site failures( not DISH's fault). we would already be watching some of those hd channels now.

DISH has plans at the end of this year to relaunch all of DISH in total mpeg 4 and all existing channels that are up there now, to be received on one 18 inch sat dish. This includes all national hd/sd channels , all sd/hd locals, and all internationals - all on one 18 inch sat dish. More details to come at the end of the year.
