A complete newbie here. I need help with FTA Receiver to get rid of my high Dish Network bill.
Currently I have subscribed to Top 100 and South Asian channels from Dish Network and I am using a Dish Network provided receiver (VIP211). Currently I have the Big Dish Antenna installed by the Dish Network rep.
I need help from my the gurus here to help me setup my FTA Receiver. Can I use tmy existing receiver or do I have to buy a new one.
Does the whole FTA process require manually changing the position of Dish Antenna frequently?
I am lurking on this site for a long time and never saw anyone asking these questions before and therefor thought of starting a new thread.
it all depends we had a good spell with c00lsat but now it is captiveworks. you can choose form captiveworks,c00lsat,viewsat,or sonic view, but try to get on with a usb port,so it is easy to download bins with a usb stick
Hey African, We got a Pansat 2700A. I'm looking to buy a newer receiver. The pansat has to download from the computer file. Are you saying the newer receivers have a USB port in back, you download to a flashdrive and stick that in the back of the unit? Are did I mistake your meaning?
If You want to stay with Pansat then: 3500SD has SD memory card slot in front and you can upgrade with SD card. 250 has a USB input in front and You can use USB flash drive for upgrade !
Pansat has been good, but I am open to other receivers. We are out in the sticks, so only dialup is currently available so I guess that leaves nFusion out. I just never knew about using the flash drives on the newer models. With HD coming up next year, wouldn't it make sense to get an hd receiver? Hopefully by that time the bins would be more forthcoming?
Julie, The ntsc standards in usa have announced that next year all analog transmission will stop and it will be replaced by digital transmission, although there will be HD channels, you will still get digital broadcasts
See, this is what has confused me. You're saying that the channels will still be broadcast, that I don't need an HD receiver, that it only enhances the experience of watching TV, but is not necessary to the reception of satellite? That the broadcasts are only going digital and not HD? But do I still have to get a newer hd tv to receive the signal whether it is through satellite or antenna?
I have following choices to choose from: 1. Nfusion 2. captiveworks 3. c00lsat 4. viewsat 5. sonic view
I don't know if it make sense but I have a HDTV with HDMI input so should I look for receiver with HDMI output. As you guys mentioned none of these are HD recevier so even having a HDMI output won't help in anyway, Right?
I will see what is available on Amazon and Fleebay.
i dont know i wanna give my viewsat away and get a hd i dont know about u..... hd have a lot of guddys...lol but if i want a reciver i would go for the Viewsat 9000HD Best HD in market.....if not the HD i would stick with NFUSION...
