Usually a so called independent service puts a little counter on your site. When somebody clicks to go to your site, it is recorded as a score. There are 2-3 reputable organisations that do it and their report is used by advertisers to see if they want to put an ad on the site - usually over 10,000 visitors a month.
Instead of wasting time and effort with a narrowly used site for counting, AV would be well advised to use the more established counters services to do a proper independent counting, so he can get advertisors to use his site. He can even look at his own site statistics to see where he stands in terms of number of visits.
To top up, there are services that specialise in boosting up your visits-count.
So AV and associates - spamming here is not going to help.
I am a webmaster and I know how to promote a website and bring traffic to it. The counters you're talking about is an old fashion tool that people used to promote few years back and some still use them because they find them useful. All of my websites, including the two popular DSS websites don't use sat counters because I don't like them. I am using the latest coding which is called "meta tags". Those tags are basically a peace of HTML code which you put on the very top of your page and search bots, such as Google Bot and Yahoo Bot, search your site using those meta tags and that's what brings traffic to your site and that's how most of the sites get listed in Google Search, Yahoo Search, etc. Yes, I know that spam will never help a webmaster, but I think I told a lot of you few months ago that I started those websites JUST to help the newbies who PM/EMAIL most of the time asking easy and sometimes strange questions. If you've ever checked DSS World, you'll see that it's totally different from rest of the DSS websites. Here, normal members don't have any option to make STICKY/CLOSE threads, which is what I hate here. A lot of people ask me where they can find BL loader, etc. I've posted its link many times and they still ask. That's why I tell newbies here to check my website because I have all that stuff organized. Sites like Crazy FTA are the DSS-like websites, but DSS World is totally different. If talking about DSS World, here's the info tracked from Alexa and other SEO services:

And talking about Advertisers, I've received many emails from some guys who wanna advertise on my website and some of them were paying me $25.00 CPM (25 bucks for 1000 ad views), but I rejected them because they were popup/annoying ads which not only pisses off the member, but it also slows down the site.
And this ZULU here who's calling all this a SPAM used to ask me BABY-TYPE questions, so don't forget buddy who helped you with those. Anyway, now you guys will understand how all this works and what's my point behind this. If you still wanna discuss, I always have to guide you guys.

Those ads are not private ads. Those ads are generated by auto adnetworks. I can put tons of those on my website, if I want. This site is using adnetworks, such as Chitika, etc.
