Captive Works 600s advice

I have a friend who has a Captive Works 600S. His box hasn't been up and running for at least a year, at which time he messed with the settings and messed it up. He had someone doing his box for him before that time; therefore, he's never done anything, even get on a website to investigate. He wanted me to try and fix it for him. However, I thought it best that he start reading and learning, or else his box will be down most of the time, if he waits for someone else to do it.

Therefore, this is what I would like to know, will he basically just need to update it? Has much changed with the box since then? Also, I would assume that whatever he messed up can be fixed by setting it back to default, or that the current updates will take care of that, since he will have to set it back to default.

So, that being the case, where is the best place for me to direct him to? I don't see that many posting about this particular box. But on the other hand, I really didn't pay that much attention until recently.

Any input would be appreciated.

I found out that the receiver (CW600s) was last updated in June of 2006. Which loader should be used?

1st.. check to see if it has the new OSD (--menu , accessories , about stb... make sure model id has cx_kround listed .)

if it does use loader 105

if not the OSD update needs to be done before you load any bins.

I looked at that a couple of days ago. However, I don't recall what site it was on. It's pretty cool with the picture tutorial. I did notice that it was dated 04-06-06. I especially liked the pictures where is shows what you will need, stating half a brain with the brain picture.

It all sound pretty much standard procedure for loading bins. However, I read that newer files are to be used with the 1.05v.

The person who owns this receiver has never done anything in regard to updating. All he has done (and knows how to do) is turn on the receiver and change the channels. That's why it hasn't been updated since June 2006.

So, I plan to make him a little 'package' and include the loader for him, so I wanted to make sure I had the right one.

I sure appreciate all whom have assisted.
