I have a scope and multimeters, but no load resistors and such. I do kinda basic tests, like power on reactive loads.
BTW, the whole reason for this is because of alil laugh we got at the shop yesterday.
A guy came in and bought a Clarion DPX11500 for his DVC4ohm L715. Then he had it all installed at another well-known shop here in town. When he was there (supposibly, from what he said) the owner of the shop was bad-mouthing the Clarion amp. Saying that it was not enough power for an L715 and he should have got a Kicker zx1000.1.
The Zx1000.1 at the other shop was ~$100 more than the Clarion DPX11500 that we sold the guy.
Also, he paid $175 for a single L715 box at that other shop. It is 3cuft tuned to ~37hz. Before he even told me what he paid, I quoted him $150 for my basic 4cuft tuned to 35hz.
They guy that bought the DPX11500 came in the shop today. He killed the L715 @ 2ohm on the DPX. The sub is locked up.
The other shop that said the DPX was not powerful enough did the whole install. They set the gains and EQ on the radio. He said that when he got the truck back from that shop, the door speakers sounded like they were about to pop from bass.
If he doesnt get another L7, he may be getting a DD3515. Either way I told him to come back by the shop and let me set the gains.
