I always knew i would end up with a pair, and I ended up getting the ones that I have always found satisfying in a wide variety of setups and rooms, the SMGc.I bought these for 4 hundred bucks from a guy I've known for 10 years they are in mint condition,he bought them and he had budget gear, and they never sounded like they did in the store in his system. They are in imaculant condition he used them to show off to his friends, and they were in a dust and animal free envoiroment, with only 200 hrs on them,he bought them in 97 the last year of the SMG models, and I remember when he bought them around the same time i had bought my Paradigm Atoms, and I kept up with them for the last 10 years, and they are basically brand new,I love them!!
Congrats:: You'll never look back! And hardly even broken in! I've had Maggies for near 25 years and won't ever own anything else, unless forced. Currently have some 1.6's which are amazing.
The SMGs are some of the best Maggies despite their limitations. My brother has SMGa that he bi-amped (Quicksilver monoblocks on top, Perreaux 1150 on Morel push-pull subs) and will put to shame most of the megabuck systems I've heard. When they were turned on, you'd immediately know you were listening to music. Congrats.
I'm pretty familiar with these speakers plus I own Acoustat electrostats.
I would love to add a pair of SMGa's to the collection, the SMG series is the sweet forgotten series in the Maggie line, except for the maggie heads of course, but the consumers back when this line was out kinda ignored this line, weird how it worked out like that, many maggie people claim is the most musical line out of all Maggies.
Grats my friend. I've done absolutely nothing with anything in a year. Yes, that is my wife crying tears of joy. Way too much work and way too little time but I'm hoping that will change in a month or two. Listen and enjoy.
