i don't know if i correctly understand your question but i will try to answer. you load the bin onto the usb from your pc. put usb key in your ultra, you should see a message saying something like initializing usb on your tv. then hit your menu key on your remote, go down to system information, hit ok it will take to the two options on the right, system info and system upgrade. select sys upgrade. select usb upgrade(last selection). then a box appears with the bin that is on the usb key. hit ok, it should load the bin into your rec'er. you get a message, caution do not power off unit...so don't power off unit.
the usb might enable you to load pics, jpegs but i never used it for that. that a summary, maybe some one would like to add...
