Silver Member Username: SpankinurwoofersGR, MI US Post Number: 128 Registered: Nov-07 | Getting my friend a nice sq system. What would you guys recommend for a good sq sub system for $250(size of sub doesn't matter). doesn't want loud. Just wants good, clean, quality bass. was looking at the eD EHQS12, only like $40 on eBay, and what amps for SQ? And it's going in a '98 malibu(i believe) with a stock electrical. |

Gold Member Username: JkidderGunshine , State Flawda Post Number: 3058 Registered: Nov-05 | that and any 400 watt amp. sealed in 1.3 cubes. sh!t sounds rediculously good |

Silver Member Username: SpankinurwoofersGR, MI US Post Number: 133 Registered: Nov-07 | Would the Q do good on 800 rms? |
Silver Member Username: SpankinurwoofersGR, MI US Post Number: 134 Registered: Nov-07 | killerzracing71, if i got an R i've got a cheap amp i could sell him...A8000T, got it for like $70. Set the gains right, would it work well? |
Gold Member Username: Killerzracing71Fredericksburg, Virginia United states Post Number: 1851 Registered: Aug-05 | yeah i would freind had that in a lac actually sounded pretty good.... for 70$ id pay that for a workin a800t for real 800rms would be a good number for the q and the bp option add like 400-500rms more watts |
Gold Member Username: camBC Canada Post Number: 1655 Registered: Nov-06 | What about: http://www.diymobileaudio.com/shop/index.php?cPath=22&osCsid=87f9cd41f1be6c87935 21e05d414e8fd The EHQS 12 will sound clean in a sealed box. Give it no less than 2 cubes, closer to 2.5. Then he may choose to add polyfill. This is coming from experience with that sub in a sealed enclosure, BTW. |

Gold Member Username: JkidderGunshine , State Flawda Post Number: 3059 Registered: Nov-05 | hes looking for sq and you'd get a type-r before "that" i used to own one and they are serioussss outperformed an assassin on 500 watts. |
Gold Member Username: JkidderGunshine , State Flawda Post Number: 3061 Registered: Nov-05 | diyma reference is better for what you want than a type r also. sean on here has one for sale. diyma or the link i provided are much better sounding subwoofers than a type r. |
Gold Member Username: Nd4spd18Northwest PA Post Number: 5525 Registered: Jul-06 | 1) "cheap" and "SQ" don't belong in the same sentence, but I know what you mean. 2) Amps don't have "SQ". In an ideal situation an amplifier would take a low level signal and make an identical high level signal. Things are not prefect though, and distortion can be created, which is indicated by the amps THD rating. As long as it's within accepted standards your good. 3) I wouldn't recommend a Fi Q *cough*tinsel slap*cough* |
Gold Member Username: JkidderGunshine , State Flawda Post Number: 3068 Registered: Nov-05 | i wouldnt recommend fi Q his budget cough*cough/*** i wouldnt rec. type r he wants sq cough*cough**** |
Gold Member Username: Nd4spd18Northwest PA Post Number: 5530 Registered: Jul-06 | Did I recommend a type R? No.... I'd probably go with a SoundSplinter RL-P or SSA Icon |
Gold Member Username: JkidderGunshine , State Flawda Post Number: 3070 Registered: Nov-05 | killer did, his budget isnt that high MS |
Gold Member Username: Nd4spd18Northwest PA Post Number: 5537 Registered: Jul-06 | RL-P is $280....... he needs to push the budget a little |
Gold Member Username: Skibum12189Cleveland Post Number: 2459 Registered: Mar-06 | there's a guy on here named sean selling a DIYMA reference for like 60 bucks shipped, i almost bought it. it'd work great for that application. buy that sub and that audiobahn amp and its like a 800 watt rms sql setup. not bad for likr 130 bucks IMO |
Gold Member Username: Killerzracing71Fredericksburg, Virginia United states Post Number: 1859 Registered: Aug-05 | yea he doesnt or isnt willing to spend much money so cant recomend subs that cost that much guys LOL technically are you sure you want pure sq or just a system that doesnt sound like trash like you "want" it to sound good..... but those reference subs dont look to bad.... id get 2 if they sell for 60 |
Silver Member Username: SpankinurwoofersGR, MI US Post Number: 135 Registered: Nov-07 | Thanks for all the suggestions!!! budget isn't necessarily set either, i think he'd spend a lil bit more, not sure how much tho. I'll talk to him tomorrow with these options, see what he thinks. So, not the Q...because it has 'tinsel-slap', is that just like a rattling noise from the cone moving and the tinsel 'slaps' the spider or something??? lol, don't really know what that is exactly. and type R's aren't really a sq sub. Leaning towards two diyma's, since they're single 4 ohm voice coil(2 would wire down to 2 ohms for 800 rms on the amp), and Sean's on ecoustics? might hit him up on that, should i just post a thread with his name or something, lol? THANKS AGAIN! |
Gold Member Username: Killerzracing71Fredericksburg, Virginia United states Post Number: 1863 Registered: Aug-05 | i was just lookin at your budget.... not much fit into it that i knew of and some other ppl pointed that out a well okay yeah 2 single 4s will go to 2 or 8 ohms |
