I have a receiver (HK AVR8000) with a Multi-room feature. The other room is about 60 feet away. In this other room, I connect the output of the Multi-room system via hand spliced RCA jacks to about 80 feet of speaker wire run between the rooms. At the other end, I plug the (also handspliced) RCA jacks into one of the inputs to an Onkyo receiver. The problem is that this amplifier has such a faint signal coming from the first receiver (even though the MR output is cranked) and the second receiver is at max power.
I have done this before and can't help but think that:
1) I have used the wrong gauge cable (about 18 ga)
2) There is a distance limitation
3) I should be adding an additional amplifier to power the output the 60 foot distance
Has anyone had any experience with longer distance (60 feet) Multi-room output connections between two amplifiers?
