alright well below ive got pics of my sub box i made for my truck. not sure of all the numbers right now, just looking for designs. these pics are old, since this pic was taken i sold the R's and went with 1 memphis mojo and sealed the other hole... i then took out the devider and ported it out with a single 4" pvc pipe... i think its tuned to around 36hz.. i was told if i faced the sub backwards that it would be alot louder... ive also got a TON of port noise. soo im wanting to make a better, more efficient sub box, which way should i have the sub face and where shoul the port be? what should i have it tuned to and what size?? ild still like to use the box as an arm rest. i am looking for complete spl, thanks

Port noise usually means you didn't use enough port area........ thats a cool idea for an install though, putting a sub in place of a center console

just a idea about your port noise. with you sitting right beside the port it is going to be louder to you than it would be with the same box in the trunk of a car.if i were you when you build a new box i would put the port in the front of the box so it exits pointed away from your ears. i would also use aero ports to reduce noise from the port. good thanks. how about facing the sub backwards at an angle and then porting it out the back on the bottom?

that would probaly work too. i think that as long as the port isn't pointed at you and it is big enough you should be ok. I AM NO EXPERT on this but it seems that when the port and speaker are pointed the same way you notice less port noise than when they are pointed differently. that is just my opinion and i can't prove it
