I was trying to hook my 360 with component cables to my receiver and I pluged the video cables into the video 1 port, but when I plug the audio cables into the video 1 audio input, no sound comes out. I have already checked the settings on the 360 and on the receiver. Anyone know what to do??
Try plugging your xbox directly into your TV component inputs, and the audio connectors from the xbox (red/white RCA) into an input on your receiver.
This is how I do it and it works great. Are you using the cables that came with your xbox? Make sure the little switch on the cable is set correctly (HDTV for component, regular if you're using the yellow video cable).
Dalton, if u want true surround sound from with your 360, you have to buy an additional Optical cable. Run the component cables directly to your tv. And at the base of the cable harness at the 360's end you will see a Digital Optical connection. Run an Optical cable from that to your receiver for surround sound. Cheers.
