hey...
I just had a question about Sony Xplod amps.
I kno sony does not have the best reputation for amps
but i hooked up my 2- 12's Infinity 1230w subs to a sony xplod amp which has 800w max and 200w rms.

the subs are 1200max and 300rms

Will i have trouble running this amp to these subs??

Please let me know.
The amp is Sony Xplod XM-D400P5

thanks
KJ

kj... i have nearly the same set up as you, i have the same subs in a sealed box but as for the amp i have a sony xmd1000p5, puts out 900w RMS by there rating, i have the speakers wired in parallel so each sub gets 450w RMS (suposably). the subs sound good for me but i wouldnt want an amp with any less power than that for those subs, you wouldnt get the right SQ or SPL from them

You would probably get away with that set up since that 1230 watt sub is probably around 200w RMS. It might just work!

That's 200W RMS total? Meaning 100 per sub? You need more power than that to push the subs to their full potential.

hmmm.... well the RMS power is 300w and max is 1200w......and that is 300w per sub

so the fact that i have an amp that is 200rms means it is not powerfull enough??
