first let me tell you what i have. i have a pioneer 4500mp cd player in a 95 blazer. right before this incident happened my friend who works at his dad's car audio shop installed some mb quarts for me and they were working great.

well, a few days later i was riding to the beach and i didnt really have the music up TOO loud it was on 10 or so. and all of a sudden the music stops no numbers on the screen but its still illuminated. so i pull the cd out and turn off the cd player. all of a sudden smoke starts coming out of the cd player.

so, i'm wondering if its my friends fantastic wiring job that did my cd player in and i should go after him. Or was it just the POS cd player itself? anyone know if wiring something wrong would cause that to happen? it was working just fine for a few days. i just don't wan't to put a nice brand new cd player in and cook it as well. anyone have any suggestions?

It sounds like there was a wiring short that caused the damage.
