Total FTA has been proclaimed by many people as THE place for VS bins.
However, lately the site has been up and down like Nailin' Nyda's drawers, and most importantly they have allowed incorrect information to be posted on their site which undoubtedly has confused a lot of people (not the least of whom is our very own Nailin' Nyda).
For instance, they have a message on their front page that says:
" Latest News: Dec 17 2007 5:39pm EST BEV UP with files below Charlie Premium & PPV DOWN ALL NEW FILES: Freezing FIXED Viewsat Extreme / Viewsat Platinum Viewsat Ultra ....."
This is clearly incorrect, as there was an ECM at approximately 3:00PM Eastern Time, and the files they were advertising as "fixes" were in fact the bins for the previous ECM, and as such, totally useless as of 3:00PM.
Why did they attempt to pass these off as NEW files? What do they hope to gain from this? Why have they not corrected this mistake, given that it is now more than 6 hours old, and still visible?
I would like to draw your attention to another site that I have been using for VS bins and discussions that has proven to be far more useful and timely than Total FTA, http://ftaforall.net/forums/ .
I have no attachment to this site, I am not a Mod, and I could care less if you go there or not, I'm just putting this out for the VS owners who may be getting a little ticked off with the lack of support from Total.
Hugh G. Rection is a person with exactly 23 posts and claims to know a lot. Totalfta.com has been the site for Viewsat information and files and continues to be so. whether or not ineffective BINs were posted is NOT the issue. They struggled and came up with solutions twice and were forstalled by BEV. I do not see in their action any intention to deceive anybody. It is not in their interest to do so. Even if Totalfta.com made a mistake, it was a mistake that hurt them most.
However, it is in the interest of some of the new posters here to try and disrupt this site. They have the following characteristics:- 1. Initial behaviour as newbies quickly changing to giving advice and making authoratitive statements. 2. Attacking established posters and advisors. 3. Inability or faked inability to see reason. 4. Always a pretense they have no interest at heart except yours.
These people are to be seen as what they are and treated with disdain and sent back to the sites where they came from. There is intense competition of getting new members at all the FTA sites, and traditionally Ecoustics comes under instant attack to gain membership. Ecoustics has a very easy going policy about accommodating all types of members, and can withstand such attacks, if we can all recognise these trouble makers and get rid of them.
To the newbies and old posters returning here, I will say this: You are welcome, as long as you show good manners and behaviour and try and get solutions to your personal FTA problems. If you have ability to help others, use it positively by helping, not by abusing others or attacking other members.

Nalin, you have over 6100 posts, yet who but the most complete newbie, believes that even as little as .5% of them has anything to do with furthering the FTA community?

Agree Yukon ... I get files from all over and some sites have good "working" ones and some don't. Some have viruses or hidden trogons in them. Whatever the case may be, like Yukon says USE AT OWN RISK!!! Some other person here (he shall remain nameless) has uploaded a few files at dsscom that carry a virus. So you can't trust anyone .I warn people USE AT OWN RISK all the time when I upload a file at some sites I frequent.
ive been lurking in here for along time now, when ecms hit i love to fluck around, but really this site is useless. When the files go down, i will just read some from here, some from there and wait for some excited dumbazss to start yelling, "The files are out, the files are out! Then ill just go to my site (not mentioned because im not promoting them or anything) and upload the file for my stb. Alot of people in here know some stuff, but personally, theres just to much of the same information being passed out. Its time for some people to read. Thats it for now. Coders do not come in here people, they have better things to do with their time.
This site is good to come to when there is a ecm. No entertainment on tv, it's all here. I love coming here and watch the wicked witch of the north lead the lemmings over the cliff.
