^ Yes I have VS Pro too and I had to do the Manual setup by adding the Missing TP and then rescanning that particular TP. Actually lyngsat doesn't have the Correct TP information for ZEE TV USA for example. IIf some one has correct TP information for that then post it here for him.

OK - I found out the freq of one of the channels I am missing is 12384, tp 12 on 61.5

I did a blind scan it did not find anything on this freq.

any ideas?

I'm not sure why I have to go thru these extra steps since my cooolsat works just fine..

Do you have D Pro type LNB? if not then do factory default, setup echo 3, under Legacy make it Legacy Twin and rescan it. May solve your problem.

In any case do regular scan, if u get less than 120 channels then save this, and rescan one more time,, sometime u have to scan 3 times like this :-(
VS Pro has some buggggggggs , not very good with switches and older LNB's

When you say "sat file" - you are referring to the new "fix" correct?

Or is "sat file" separate from the stb file.

There is no SAT File available for VS Pro. Sat files work with VS Ultra Extreme etc.
You have to manually enter TP.

I am sorry i do not have a list of the transponder's frequency compared to the DN Numbering system I would like to find that though.

You will just for now go to lgnsat and make sure you have all the transponders listed for each sat.

(1) Go to the Menu Option Edit TP list. It is one of the Options in the Menu
(2) When you get the TP Listing on the screen you will seee at the button to press to add a New TP.
(3) Enter the Requested Frequency and Horizintal or Vetrical polarization using th remote. This info is at the TP listing websites.
(4) When you try to exit the receiver will ask you to save the list.

(5) Now go to Scanning New Channels and Select Manual rather then Automatic.
(6) Once you select Manual you will be able to select the newly added TP from the List of TPs to scan.
(7) Use Scan not Blind scan and you are all set.

Bye the Way in the TP List to Select Nimiq, Dish or any other sat you have to press the info button to select the request sat so that the TP list contains TP from that Sat.

http://ekb.dbstalk.com/148list.htm - this site does not give me detail TP info (freq, etc)

So - I am not sure exactly where to find the new TP information ??

then you have a antenna setting wrong. or your motor moved

This is why I strongly suggest each person updating a viewsat do THIS every time.

1 More thing for some Reason the Channel Search Option in my VS Pro doesn't work. I have to go to Antenna Setting and you can go to Channel Search screen from there by pressing the Red Button on remote. When I do that then the receiver can do proper scan and bring the channels. You might want to try that.

Tony - I have a DP34 switch.

I have 2 Sats on the roof - one for locals, one for internationals.

I have DISH PRO Twin LNB for 119/110 sat.

Legacy (radio shack brand) Twin LNB for 61.5 sat.

DP34 only works with Disp Pro type LNBs, i think u have two options
Replace DP34 with Disq switch
Replace Legacy Twin with DP type LNB

Tony -

The DP34 has been working for over 1 year with my cooolsat with exact same setup.

In fact, right now, I am watching my cooolsat 5k as I type and I'm gettin all channels 61.5+110+119.

I am only having this problem with viewsat pro... I'm very surprised as I thought this would be a good receiver...but so far, it's pretty feeble.

One thing I noticed about viewsat pro TPs is that they don't seem to match.. ie. TP4 is showing 12384 mhz in viewsat...whereas..the website is showing 12384 mhz to be TP 12.

I'm now pretty sure this is due to error in sat config of vs pro.

install the default factory bin from viewsatusa.com
install the new sat file from viewsatusa.com
install the new bin from totalfta.com
delete existing channel lists
reset antenna configuation
auto scan all the sats

It should work. the problem is this. i did all of this still i don't get my 118.8

UPDATE:

I did a factory reset.

I setup the sats, time etc.

Ran Blind Scan on only 61.5.

While scanning, it stopped at 80/83 and pop up msg came..do you want to save? Why did it not reach 83/83 ? so weird.

Also, after Blind Scan... I am still missing channels.

I am getting other channels on 61.5 that I was already getting...but still missing 612,613,614,623,624.

im ready to return this thing..such a pain

Does anyone know how to load a sat file for VS PRO using the loader 1.0 ?

I tried uploading a standard sat file I found and I get the error msg "the file is unacceptable"

I think loading this sat file may help fix my problem.

"..but still missing 612,613,614,623,624. "

In a Blind or Power scan on some receivers and software, you would get these channels as
TV 612,TV 613,TV 614,TV 623,TV 624
i.e TV 612 which should show up as SETMX, TV 613 as TVASA and TV 614 as SET, do not and you have to rename them.
Just do a alphabetic sort and look under TV..

NASH,

That works at your receiver with your LNB if they do not have a LNB like yours it will make it lose even more

Main thing is make sure you have every transponder then scan THEN make a backup of your channels list from your receiver to your computer.and a note of all settings..so you will not go through this ever again

OK - well, according to a moderator at FTAVIEW... there is a sat file that is supposed to work on all viewsat models...however..it seems that this is false.

[link removed]

Anyway, I'm just very disappointed that I have to go thru all this to get channels that work perfectly fine on my cooolsat 5k - which is 2 yrs old and works better than VS PRO...so sick!

I'd expect viewsat to have made a better product.

I guess at this point, there is nothing I can do but re-select LNB, re-scan bla bla bla

I'll keep trying...but I have a feeling it won't work until viewsat comes out with a SAT FILE for VS PRO.

you cant depend on a certain transponder to have what your looking for! One dma might be on a different transponder than your friends out of state! They swap transponders on occassion anyway ! The best way is to blind/power scan everything that way you will get all the active transponders for your DMA! Updating the EPG often will help!!

hi mr JoeDirt

please read the entire thread then add only if you are sure you are correct.

He is looking for a sat file. We are trying to help him find one. I pointed him to several. We have already suggested and he has stated he has done a blind scan.

You are wrong about the transponders they are the same no matter what your location is. The difference is the spot beam channels that are broadcast on the spotbeam transponders. The frequency's of the the transponders are however the same. That is why we strongly advise to get a satfile and then scan using that satfile. With the # of receiver out their losing the Blind scan feature this is how you fix that problem.

updating the EPG would be of no help whatsoever in his quest for a satfile.

pjx: The TP you mentioned has a propensity not to come in easily even on blind scan. On many receivers the channels 612 onwards come in with the names TV 612, etc. I did inform you about it. Did you look for them under TV nnn?

Nalin - I looked through the entire guide for TV 612 etc.

All channels in my EPG start with a number..none of them start with TV or any letter.

Thanks

Problem Fixed !!

I downloaded the new bin for VS PRO and I then ran an auto-scan on 61.5 bird.

Guess what... it actually scanned 42/42 instead of stopping at 40/42 like it did before.

Anyway, I am now getting the channels I was missing before the update!

The coders must've changed some coding to make this work

Thanks to all for offering help - this seems to be a very helpful forum !

ps. of course...now internationals are down so none of the channels work...how ironic!

Both my cooolsat5k and vs pro have comparable pic quality.
