This is double post but, it seemed to fit here better.

Hello, New guy here and was hoping to get a couple of quick and I belive easy answers from you guys after reading over some of the post...
The Stereo in my car now is awsome but, like any system givin enough time they need to be added to/upgraded. I went to the local Radio Active and had a guy listen to my sytem after we talked about it while my friend was having some work done. I guess you can read my profile to see what I have now but, he said the MTX speakers I had where awful That r being pushed channel per channel w/ a MTX Thunder series 4/400w. The "Expert" said he could hook me up w/ a better sub sytem then the one I had because it was beeing over powered by my "shitty" MTX mid rangers. And He would probably just run some add on tweeters and have my Kenwood Epcelon head unit push those.

Well, I have some very very nice (I Think) Alpine Type R 1500w 12"ers waiting on the preordered box and I got some Kenwood KFC-ST30's to give me a lil' more High but, I went out there this morning to find I was a little confused about how to go about wireing them....I have unues speaker wire for rf/lf and r/r and l/r but no sound comes out of the tweeters. I know I am just over worked and underpaid and tired and missing something but but, I would really like to hear any suggestions you guys have. I feal silly I wired up a Parrott 3200 LS-GPS but I can't get my head unit to puss two lousy tweeters.

I think I am going to like this forum btw it's alot like many a gaming forums I admin. and on much more technical topics..

You'll need a mono amp for your subs, try a Kicker ZX-1000.1

The Type Rs are rated at 500 rms, rms is the only rating that matters when it comes to watts for amps, subs, speakers, etc... But they can take more than that so if you have the money get a Kicker ZX-1500.1. Just set your gains using a DMM and don't abuse them...

You could also save $50+ if you bought refurbished, which means the case is old, but the internals (stuff that matters) is new.

I have a 1/2 dual (gag) that's 460 watts and a MTX that is somehow 4channels @ 100w or 8800w? and ofcourse the epcelon that matches my head unit. So far I have just one alpine being pushed by the Dual mono my 120 watt kenwood treet add ons are wire w/ 100W each on the front channel of the MTX and My Kenwood amp is Pushing the 6.5 fronts/6X9 rear mids and it sounds pretty good. Unfortunatly i am running out of loot and am having a hard time wust upgrading minor electrical components..

BTW Does anyone have a basic wireing schematic for a cross over I could built for my tweeters or is it not needed?

So if I am running them less than 500 I should drop the gain and since they are rated @ 4ohm w/ jumpers on the voice coils what would give me better sound? Parallel @ around 2 ohms or wire the speakers for 8 ohm?
Also, I run the tweeters off the front channel of the MTX and they sound awsome I get the jump around stereo effect and they even help to make the mid bass "Thumps" much deeper....
I am just not experianced enough with the higher grade subs.

Would a capacitor help? I am already going back and getting better terminals and connectors.

I am also taking photo's I'll try and upload a few off the "mess" before I get it all cleaned and tightened up...Oh and that damned Parrot 3400-ls/gps working. It powers on and sinks like a champ but if I get a call or try to adjust the unit settings it mutes out the steroe leaving it lit and it goes black.

I think I am in over my head but, there is no going back now.

I really appreciate any and all the help from u guys and hope I get a chance to return some of my Knowledge.

First off, why are you planning on adding another set of tweeters? What are you running now?

Second, if your subs are 4 ohm single, parallel them to 2 ohms so you get the extra power.

A capacitor will help with your dimming and smooth out the voltage changes, but it's not going to SUPPLY the power you need. The alternator will supply that. But unless you're turning up the volume to max output (or you have a small car with a 50A alt), I don't think you'll be too bad off.

Don't get a cap.
They're useless.
