Will using a 4 way switch with two recievers decrease any signal or quality value ? I have never used one before. Or is it best to run a seperate cable from the satellite dish to the recievers ? Thanks

Yo can't use one DISEqC switch for 2 different receivers

Best way for 2 receivers is to use LNB with 2 outlets called dual LNB

scabz .....to answer your question NO
A multiswitch will not decrease the signal.
EXCEPTION
If a multiswitch is used only on FTA satellites and over 100 foot runs to a receiver there will be a DB lose....signal lose.

Dual LNB
Only 2 receivers
No need for any type of switch.

Every insertion has a dB loss 0.5db to up to 3.0dB
Every bad connection, shield etc. has an effect
Every multiple output has a signal to noise ratio

Yo'll notice problems for weak signals and perhaps loss of signals during rainy cloudy weather and/or plus if signal is not at its stronger level

So is quad ok or not to use
Yes, ok assuming all basic connections are right to accommodate dB loss to keep
it at a minimum level.

I suppose one can always amplify the signals if there is an unacceptable signal loss....?

Go to Menu/User settings and change date, time, time zone and if necessary, the TV type.
Go to Menu/antenna setup and connect up the switches to the appropriate sats.
The do Blind scan or power scan.

- Amplify signal won't increase Q signal off the LNB to receiver
- Inline Amplifier replaces signal loss due to capacitance of cable and length of wire, shield etc.
- Any type of amplifier increases over all level along with signal to noise ratio i.e. noise increase level as well

s/n should be low (0.1 is best)
s/n over 0.7 is very bad
s/n =1 means signal= 100 % noise

Yo want to be around 0.5 or less
