is an 80a fuse fine for my wire? it has an 80a on the amp but i think using an 80a on the wire would be useless since the one on the amp would possibly pop before the one on the wire. I'm sure neither of them are actual 80a fuses, maybe 79.5 or 80.7 but in general should I try and find a 70 or 75a fuse?

reason im asking is I have a fuseholder w/ an 80a fuse already

The fuse on the wire is to protect the wire from shorts. The fuse on the amp is to protect the amp. Yes, install the fuse on the wire as close to the barrery as possible. Always use a fuse equal to or higher then you amps.
