I just got my 18" RD alpha in the mail today and the thing is huge. I watched the delivery guy through my window carry the box up my driveway and laughed as he was struggling to walk it do the door. Either way, thanks for the help from you guys to decide to choose this one over the BTL.

Right now, I am trying to build a box for the sub using subwoofertools, but something isnt adding up. If you could go to my thread addressing this problem, I would really appreciate that.

The thing that sucks about this is even when I get the box built, I dont have my car to put it in. I just bought a ford escape a while back, and just recently I got rear ended. So since this has happened, my escape is getting fixed at the body shop.

It only took a couple of days..I wasnt expecting that it was the sub, I thought it was going to be my protein I ordered, but then I saw the guy trying to carry it. I was thinking "damn how much protein did I order?"

But any idea on the box?? I get my car back wednesday and Id like it to be built and ready to go in by then.

Steve has got a builder that is supposedly just as good as Fisher, so I've heard. Just as good including price of the box as well.

Let us all know how it sounds when you get it installed. I chose the BTL over the Alpha so Im wondering how they compare.

thats a nice looking box...I wish I could build a box like that, or even have the tools to do that. Does anyone know the cutout diamater for an 18" RD alpha? That would help me out alot.

And as for comparing it to a BTL, I really have nothing to compare it to because I have never been priveledged enough to hear a BTL in person

and the thing that makes me mad is when I get a sub, all I want is a stupid sticker and I almost never get one. I didnt get one with my type Rs, I didnt get them with my Rockford Fosgates, and I didnt get them with this RD. I got 1 with my Rl-P and I didnt like it.

I had a guy try to tell me to switch from my BTLs to alphas. Don't like the way they look as much, but I would like to know how they compare.
Anyone with any experience know how they like 4000 wrms daily?

yeah I dont like the way they look, BTLs look much better in my opinion, but appearance doesnt affect the sound I guess.

2000 I'm cool with, but the guy specifically told me the alpha could handle 4000 watts with music all day as well as the btl. I'm not going to argue without knowing what I'm saying, so if anyone knows please just let me know.

350zspl over on ROE is running 4500+ on his Alpha from a rockford 4000BD and he said his alpha is louder to the ear than his BTL on the same power but he hasnt metered with his alpha so take it with a grain of salt

Thanks Trey, I'll go read over there some. The guy said about a week or so from now he's willing to do a swap out test- maybe a 7.5ft box @ 35hz. See which meters better and which sounds better. I'll see how that works.
I plan on going deathmatch with him though, Fi vs RD

Alpha is a SQL subwoofer not a SPL subwoofer. If you want a subwoofer to put a ton of power on and get very high output use the SHW or HW or even the Elite SPL V.2 will take 10k bursts.

The OMEGA 15" will be out in 60-90 days that subwoofer is a SQL sub that will take 3000 RMS.
12+" tall 4" VC that has a flat wind of 65+mm with a 10" dia. Dual spaced spider. If you are looking extreme this is it hands down.

Thanks...it took 10x longer to design the box then it did to get everything and put it together. Its going to be facing upward in the back of my escape.

I think theres something wrong with my head unit. I have to put the volume at 40-45 and have the gain ALL the way up in order for this sub to hit hard. Its a bxi200 so it is the right power. This also happened with my rockfords.

I did some tinkering with the head unit and it does sound better, I still hvae to do some work because my lights arent dimming even and I have a stock charging system. That doesnt seem right.
