ok so i am getting a new sub soon and wanted to know if i should get a 13" focal sub (33kx) or the 16" (40kx) sub. i want nice tight bass but i want it low at the same time. the 16" would be bad @ss.

I'd go bigger. In the proper enclosure it should still keep a nice controlled sound.

Oh and Dan...I really wouldn't get either of those subs.Focal subs are too much money for what they are.I heard a few of em in sealed enclosures and the SQ was good but nothing too impressive. However,if you've heard them and must have em or really like the SQ of those subs I'd get the 16'' for more output. It should sound just as good as the 13'' in the proper install.

Sure am Rob. I still want it like I said just a bit wary, wish you were local :-( If you can post that pic w/ your email I'll pay for the ebay fees, just let me know.

I actually need 2 memphis 4ks. I already have 2, but I'm doing one per 18" BTL in a yukon, crx style box. I've been trying to find some 4ks that I can feel safe about buying online (I bought the others at a shop overpriced). Any refs on here (as I look at your goldmember status)?

A lot of members can vouch for me I think...I've been here a while and I've always paid for things before receiving...I just love how quick I put up the money but people don't do the same for me :-( I've purchased from 3 people on here that I can think of...but as a seller I've only shipped out a Paintball gun.Going the Ebay route just really sucks and last time I put something on there it didn't sell and of course I still had to pay and it was time consuming.I have someone else ready to drop the dime but he claims to send payment tomorrow but told me to consider it sold...so...well if I get home from work and done working out at a decent time I'll post that pic of my Email with it if I have time.I'm here at work another 2 hours and then I have to work out so....we'll see.

I was scammed out of 900+ dollars on a ss 6500, and now I'm having to go through the hassle of court to get it back (paypal and fedex screwed me over) that's why I'm wary.

Those Focals have great SQ too but for the money I would go with rl-s's.

If you're a big fan of SQL, Focal is the way to go. Otherwise, there are better options for the money. The 13 is about 400 watts RMS and the 16 500, so if you're looking for anything other than sublime sound quality, the $700-$1000 you're going to spend on a 33kx or 40kx is better spent elsewhere.

For SQL, w6's are less expensive than the Focals and are renowned for their SQL. That'd be my reccomendation.
