I recently installed a Pioneer 6900UB HU in a 01 Grand AM GT with Monsoon and GMOS-04 harness. Upon reconecting the battery, the headunit will turn on for about 5 seconds then shut off and open its faceplate, I can still close the faceplate with the eject button, but it will not play music or produce a display, nor will door chimes play through the GMOS-04 when i turn the key over with the door open, all connections look good, all fuses look good, even played with the door chime and volume out level on the GMOS-04, what am I missing?
check a few grouns and remember even if a fuse dosen't look blown it can be. it might be u blew the fuse to the chimewhich would make more sense being the two run alongside one another. check those with a multimeter u find a bad fuse , problem solved.
Yea I used a multimeter on the wires from the GMOS-04 the ignition wire shorted out, I have it rigged onto my power wire atm, just have to shut it off manually, Crutchfield is sending out another GMOS-04. Thanks for you help though.
Ok got the GMOS-04, hooked it up, chimes worked with ignition, turned key off, pushed radio and wires back into place, turned key on, nothing, GMOS-04 shorted out again, hesistant on sending this one back too, I would be ok if i were able to wire the ignition wire to the vehicle ignition signal wire(acc), but it uses the time out system for the radio when you key it off, so its located somewhere else in the vehicle, does anyone know where I might find this?
asi posted in the other one ,it's gotta be wired, it just dawned on me i remember it all ok it works like this it just came back to me honestly at this moment. all pontiacs or gm blah blah that model of era require u to run your own acc. u can jump that into ur heater box theres a decent acc switch in there but make sure everything works, as i said to wire the acc u need to hookit up to a external source that gets power with key on and none off. the gmos i'm not famillar with nut i say it's got a fuse in it thats blowin do to a short. u could of accidentally scraped a wire and when u add power poof it toasts. ur best bed take ur meter do a once over for continuity and nicks, cuts. it takes on short to screw the system up so remember look carefully through it all. then get bk to me on how u make out.
I just rigged a wire from my windshield wiper fuse to the ACC wire on the cd player, i dont have chimes, but i dont care about that, it just wanted the player to shut off when i turn the key off. I think Ill stick with this rig, even though its supposed to work with the GMOS im tired of blowing these units up, thanks for you help man.
big time, i got one alpine type - R in the trunk 12 inch powered by a infinity 1600 A at 600 watts rms 2 ohms, pioneer hu, 2 type - S 250 watts in the back ,2 pioneer 150 watts in the kick panels, 5 farard tsunami cap. idk but it seems to help even though i just like it for looks and never had a lights dimming problem . kardon hamon or however u say it , drive play kit,wit sirius satellite radio bringin up the rear. i'm tired i know my spellings messed up lol. and in the next few days i'll replace those pioneer 150 watts with 250 watt infinitys. btw that's in a 93 olds
Yea i dont need that much bass, i normally just listen to hard rock, a solid bass kick drum is good enough for me. Its hard to replace my 6x9's because I'm using that monsoon system, those back speakers are pretty odd, DVC with 2/4ohm config, I thought about just running 2ohm 8inch subs, and a component 4ohm tweeter. 2 ohm 6x9's are pretty rare, i know infinity makes some, but im not spending $250 a pair on them.
true, but infinity has some killer clear 6x9's i own the round 6 inchers i paid about 80 at retail but thier built to kill and i love them i had them in my 86 suburban but now i gotta figure out how to re mount them in my olds. the sunfire i worked on i put 2 pioneer 3 ways in the back and left the stock fronts and dumped in a pioneer hu. it still kicks really, really clear. and btw i'm a all rock guy but once u get that bass itch u just can't shake it.
