Gold Member Username: MgbcsMaple Grove, Minnesota Post Number: 1385 Registered: Dec-06 | Why do you want to do that? Why not just get an amp? You can find one cheap and save up if you want. |

Bronze Member Username: Thumpinwith8sFormerly known as Wolf... Post Number: 45 Registered: Jun-07 | ha ha, MY subs are only 8's and don't HAVE to have a lot of power,so I was able to hook them straight up until I got an amp. Most subs require too much power and IF you don't wire them to the correct ohms you can burn up your HU. BTW, just talked to my neighbor, he's gonna take some vids for me tomorrow, so I'll post them as soon as I can) and while I am at it...here's a little vid of the 2-8's wired up without an amp. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YhaGKQ_-hc8 |
New member Username: Kyle_ddPost Number: 8 Registered: Jun-07 | now can u tell me how to hook up the speakers to my truck |
Gold Member Username: OglejustPost Number: 1893 Registered: Aug-06 | what r the vc's? |
New member Username: Kyle_ddPost Number: 9 Registered: Jun-07 | what is a vc sorry im new at this |
Bronze Member Username: Thumpinwith8sFormerly known as Wolf... Post Number: 47 Registered: Jun-07 | well, to be honest, don't. You really need an amp. I was lucky that 1>I had small subs 2>they were wired to the correct ohms with 10's I wouldn't do it. they won't get enough power and probably won't move at all. even if they do move some, it won't be enough for them to put out any sound. A HU only puts out about 20 watts MAXIMUM. |
New member Username: Kyle_ddPost Number: 10 Registered: Jun-07 | yea because when i hooked them up to the live and ground wires the speaker would come up but no sound came out |
Bronze Member Username: Thumpinwith8sFormerly known as Wolf... Post Number: 48 Registered: Jun-07 | vc=voice coils for instance the RE8's I have are DVC 4ohms which means Dual Voice Coil 4ohms each so each sub in my case has 2 voice coils and each voice coil is 4ohms. since I have 2 subs, i was able to wire them to either 4ohms or 1ohm (if I remember right), and they are wired to 4ohms |
Bronze Member Username: Thumpinwith8sFormerly known as Wolf... Post Number: 49 Registered: Jun-07 | not LIVE and GROUND, at least I hope not. I hope you mean the + and - speaker wires. if you wire them up to the power and ground wires, you might burn them up....power wire does not carry any sound, just power. |
Bronze Member Username: Kyle_ddPost Number: 12 Registered: Jun-07 | ok thanks 1 more ? is there any way to reapir busted speakerrs or make them sound better |
Bronze Member Username: Thumpinwith8sFormerly known as Wolf... Post Number: 51 Registered: Jun-07 | kyle>though I told you where to hook them up, please DO NOT do it. there is no reason to do that on those subs. Get an amp. as to repairing>whats wrong with them...need more info than just saying its a busted speaker |
Bronze Member Username: Kyle_ddPost Number: 13 Registered: Jun-07 | the rubber piece that controls the base(on front of speaker) is busted, ripped , cracked, whatever you wanna call it |
Bronze Member Username: Kyle_ddPost Number: 15 Registered: Jun-07 | the rubber piece around the front of the speaker is busted |
