i have a rockford p550 amp running a 12" kicker cvx wich is 750 watts rms and when i have a my sub running for like not too long the amps feels fairly hot but i have a heat sensor that turns it off when it gets to hot.. so is this normal for an amp to get hot?
the amp will heat up but it shouldn't get so hot that it turns its self off, i would say check that the gain isn't too high. also you may need to put in sum case fans to circulate the air in the boot. check e-bay they have some decent prices
