Bronze Member Username: SchinnerPost Number: 37 Registered: May-07 | so what voltage am i looking for when setting the gain the dmm way??? amp = 750 rms 1 channel subs take 300 rms each |
Platinum Member Username: James1115Use a simple... Post Number: 10095 Registered: Dec-04 | it depends on what your headunits rms voltage is. |
Bronze Member Username: SchinnerPost Number: 40 Registered: May-07 | hu = 17 rms why does that matter for the amp gain? |

Platinum Member Username: James1115Use a simple... Post Number: 10097 Registered: Dec-04 | you are not looking at your headunits power output you need to know your headunits rca voltage output. what kind of HU do you have? |
Bronze Member Username: SchinnerPost Number: 41 Registered: May-07 | o....sry i dont know the rca power output....old jvc hu, can i measure the output with a dmm? and with the subwoofertools it says 34.6 or so volts.....if i set it at that i get clipping so idk what to set it to |
Platinum Member Username: James1115Use a simple... Post Number: 10100 Registered: Dec-04 | a old jvc is prob 2 volt rms output what model jvc is it? |
Bronze Member Username: SchinnerPost Number: 43 Registered: May-07 | per manual....for hu line-out/level output: 2.0volt/2kohm load (full scale) is that what you were looking for? |
Bronze Member Username: SchinnerPost Number: 45 Registered: May-07 | shoot i could go get model number if that will help....just let me know |
Gold Member Username: Nd4spd18Southeast PA Post Number: 2528 Registered: Jul-06 | WTF are you people talking about. You do not need to know anything about the HU preout voltage. Kyle: http://www.subwoofertools.com/forum/setgain.asp http://mobile.jlaudio.com/support_pages.php?page_id=143 Use those links to set your gain. All you need to know is the RMS power rating of your amplifier at the impedance (ohms) that you are running it. |
Bronze Member Username: SchinnerPost Number: 46 Registered: May-07 | okay...but the subs arent rated to handle all of that power so should i use the rms power rating of the subs....300 x 2 = 600watts rms?? |
Gold Member Username: Nd4spd18Southeast PA Post Number: 2542 Registered: Jul-06 | Yes, in that case you would use the power handling of the subs |
