Gold Member Username: TapemanNew York City in-HD, NY Post Number: 1129 Registered: Oct-06 | I will have to say: Viewsat PVR 7000 (Price range about $300 USD) Simple reasons: - 2 tuners (watch and record) or record 2 events - Program/record future movies/events etc. - You want to record as many as movies before PTA turns cold - You can install up to 2TB HDD - With a simple modifications you can share in 2 different rooms This is how to https://www.ecoustics.com/cgi-bin/bbs/show.pl?tpc=2&post=1063352#POST1063352 = No HD capability no DVD burner for PVR 7000 *** make sure you know where to get BIN PGM before you buy I honestly got no clue where to get these BINs? Second choice will be: Captiveworks CW 3000 (Price range about $500 USD) Because it has limited HD capability + DVD burner Same applies where to get their bins Third choice for Low Cost receivers will be Viewsat Magnum or extreme ($160 to $180) No recording capability, no HD reception I do not recommend to anyone to buy any HD receivers however my first 2 choices still best value available today |

There is a Extremeview Magnum for less than $145 ...and that is a very good receiver BTW...the Viewsat Ultra has them all beat with the USB stick... and any Viewsat, Sonicview or Extremeview, sure is hell is much better than any captiveworks.. |
Gold Member Username: TapemanNew York City in-HD, NY Post Number: 1131 Registered: Oct-06 | Correction Thank you LK I meant Extremeview Magnum The PVR 7000 has Front Panel USB 2.0 supported for fast PC interface. What I see more impressive that it has 2 tuners PIP and record feature etc. Most people got recording devices instead of buying 2 devices this has both Tuner plus recorder. At last is what you can afford and where to get from is totally up to the user. |

Bronze Member Username: FtanlPost Number: 48 Registered: Apr-07 | I'll have to agree with you Bruce I. The Captive Works CW600P is the best bang for your buck. It's easy to setup & so far so good with little or no problems. I've set up a few of these & everyone is working like a charm. Viewsat Ultra is perhaps the best for ease of downloads with the USB feature. But if you own a PC I'd suggest the CW600P to everybody. It's way cheaper. |
