i'm looking to power two 12" 4 ohm audioque sd2.5s. my budget is about $300. i'm looking for 1200-1600 rms at 1 ohm. which amp or amps are the best out of these?
i've done a little research and they all seem to be good amps. but, i've also seen on several websites that the orion 1200d is only rated at 600 rms... buuuut i've seen on this site that it does over 1200 rms. which one is the truth? if you guys have any other amps to recommend, please do.
Autotek MM1400. It is underrated and it has super class D technology(that means it has sq equal to class a/b). It also pulls less current than other class d amps.
Im not to sure about autotek, i heard its rated about right not over or under rated also that they over heat... dont take my word for it though.. ive never messed with one.
about how sure are you on the over heat part killa was the one that over heated the ss line and not the mm line im also about to get a mm2000 or 4000 but your right about the power output i heard they put just what they say but if any one knows a bit more about the heat issue with the mm line let us know cuz the ss line is autoteks entry levle line
Im not to sure about what line of amps it is, i just remember reading that they had heat issues. The MM line could be different. but for quality vs. output the kicker still wins, the zx series is a bit better but the kx will still beat all of those.. its underrated and has good quality, im pretty sure some people run those at .5ohm daily
kicker is great, but those autotek mean machine amps r really nice too. a few ppl on here had them or used to have them n' i remember seein great things on them.
from the installs ive made, i would say the Mean machines put out about 10% more than rated.....but if u dont have the proper charging system, you wont see it
Proud owner of a kx1200.1. GO with kicker, you wont be disappointed. The rest of those amps, excluding the orion are generic and lower end amps. Kicker FTW x2
No.. The only time someone would recommend someone else a hifonics amp would be when they say they are on a budget because they are under $200 cheap, and obviously not the quality of higher end amps such as kicker and orion, hence why I used the word 'generic'. I havent owned an orion, but I know they got good rep and I have owned 2 kickers and I know they are top of the line. And if you disagree with me about the power craptastic lineup.. uhmm, i dont think they have help for that..
True, but it would be better to just say Kicker is the best amp listed. The way you said "top of the line" makes it sound like they are the best of all amplifiers, which they aren't.
wow, i got more responses than expected. so i should basically only be looking at the autotek, planet audio, and kicker... i would look at the orion, but i found out the one i listed about only puts out 600 rms, and i certainly need more output than that. thanks guys and keep the comments comin.
^Very true MS,PPI and Orion arnt nearly as good as they used to be. Ive got an Orion 225g4 and its the loudest cleanest "25" wrms I have EVER heard. I really would like to try some of the PPi Art series amps they are supposed to have great sq too.
