(yes i might get new subs too). |
Silver Member Username: J_c_wheeler8Columbus, IN United States Post Number: 369 Registered: May-06 | If i were you, I would get new subs. and a nice amp to push them. I am currently running 2 alpine type R's, and my kx1200.1 should be coming in the mail soon. The Type R's are in a ported box and im sure u've seen pics. Is space a factor for you? If not, give me a price range for subs, as well as like 1x 15", 2x 12" 2x 15" or still 10's. |
Gold Member Username: OlegSanta Monica, CA USA Post Number: 1148 Registered: Nov-04 | Ivan, you need about 900W rms for those, that JL puts out 700W rms tops. You need another 100W per woofer, but I'm not sure that'll be audible. |
Silver Member Username: ImalikSD2.5, New Jersey Audioque...N... Post Number: 252 Registered: May-06 | The subs are not bad at all...You could look for a Crossfire VR 1000 or EDnine.1... that will give you the power you are looking for. I just ordered a Nine.1 for 2 12 SD2.5. |
Gold Member Username: 420alldaylongPost Number: 1562 Registered: Sep-06 | JL amps put out what they say no more or less. |
Gold Member Username: OlegSanta Monica, CA USA Post Number: 1150 Registered: Nov-04 | No, they say it puts out more...about 200W more. |
Gold Member Username: 420alldaylongPost Number: 1563 Registered: Sep-06 | Who says? |
Gold Member Username: OlegSanta Monica, CA USA Post Number: 1152 Registered: Nov-04 | Glasswolf. Need I say more? |

Bronze Member Username: TheivanDawson Creek, British Colu... Canada Post Number: 98 Registered: Mar-07 | JL joey? cause if your dissing JL youve got some issues man. |
Gold Member Username: 420alldaylongPost Number: 1609 Registered: Sep-06 | Ivan I guess you could say Im dissing JL because you don't get enough for the price. And Im pretty sure there is alot people that agree. |
Bronze Member Username: TheivanDawson Creek, British Colu... Canada Post Number: 100 Registered: Mar-07 | i kinda agree with you there but i get lots of my stuff alot cheaper just because im cool with the dealer here. theres definetly same quality product for cheaper but i think JLs wear down time is a bit better. ive just stuck with them cause thats whats worked for me |
Silver Member Username: SkiesCourtenay, British Colu... Canada Post Number: 629 Registered: Aug-05 | JL has excellent best build quality. They are quite overpriced though. JL Amps ARE underrated, roughly by 40%. I have googled, and found proof of it, you should be able to do the same if you're curious. |
Gold Member Username: MgbcsLincoln, Nebraska Post Number: 1141 Registered: Dec-06 | It's a regulated power supply for a reason...no? |
Gold Member Username: Safe_crackerChicago, IL US Post Number: 2724 Registered: Jan-06 | JL amps are not underrated by 40%, that is hillarious! If your lucky the 500 will give you maybe 600 rms if your lucky more like 580, that isn't 40%, lol. JL has a nice build quality but for "bang for buck" factor they aren't all that great. Also if you decided you wanted to raise your battery voltage it would do you absolutely no good due to the regulated power. they put out there benched power from 11-14.4V which is great for a vehicle where someone doesn't want to upgrade there electrical but I wouldn't buy one.. |
Gold Member Username: OlegSanta Monica, CA USA Post Number: 1202 Registered: Nov-04 | Glasswolf himself said most birthsheets on JL 500/1 say around 667W rms or in that neighborhood - I'd believe that over other speculations. |
Gold Member Username: 420alldaylongPost Number: 1610 Registered: Sep-06 | Ivan How much do you pay for the JL 250/1 JL 500/1 and the JL 1000/1 |

Gold Member Username: Safe_crackerChicago, IL US Post Number: 2726 Registered: Jan-06 | No hating, just much better deals out there, and yes I can afford them, lol.. BTW my 4 kicker sx1250's cost more! Polo.. |
Silver Member Username: Sinful_systems7015 INCH WANG... Post Number: 829 Registered: Nov-06 | I wasn't naming names or pointing anyone out, that is just one of my quotes... I agree that there are better deals but there is not better quality than JL.. JMO |

Silver Member Username: SkiesCourtenay, British Colu... Canada Post Number: 630 Registered: Aug-05 | Polo. As I said, GOOGLE IT. With all due respect. https://www.ecoustics.com/electronics/forum/car-audio/6599.html 500 * 1.4 = 700. |
Silver Member Username: TheivanDawson Creek, British Colu... Canada Post Number: 101 Registered: Mar-07 | keep in mind this is canadian $ joey: the 500/1 i got for 450 and they actually just got the 1000/1 after i bought the 500/1 but i wanna switch if it will be worth it. i can probably get it for around 600 or 700 |
Gold Member Username: 420alldaylongPost Number: 1613 Registered: Sep-06 | What would that be in US$ |
Silver Member Username: SkiesCourtenay, British Colu... Canada Post Number: 631 Registered: Aug-05 | Buying gear from the states goes up exponentially. Customs, brokerage, shipping, currency conversion kill us a $315USD amp comes to about $560CAD after its all paid for. a $350USD sub comes to about $620CAD after its all paid for. It hurts |
Gold Member Username: 420alldaylongPost Number: 1616 Registered: Sep-06 | Well I have to say Glasswolf is wrong on this one because JL slash amps do not come with birth certificate. And trust me when I say they do rated power and no more this is coming from JL AUDIO. They know how many watts comes out of there amps and its 250 for 250/1 500 for 500/1 and the 1000 for 1000/1. I repeat this is for JL AUDIO. If you don't believe me give JL a email. |
Gold Member Username: OlegSanta Monica, CA USA Post Number: 1208 Registered: Nov-04 | Did you not read the article SkieS posted above?? They tested it! Anyway, I'm done arguing about the obvious with you. |
Gold Member Username: 420alldaylongPost Number: 1621 Registered: Sep-06 | I beleive JL over a review. |
Gold Member Username: OlegSanta Monica, CA USA Post Number: 1209 Registered: Nov-04 | Then you'll need to believe every other company, too. What they "say" is what they put as their RMS rating. Those zappies then put out exactly what they're rated at and not a watt over. And those pyles are a real bargain @ 4000W for $100. A bit naive, but whatever. |
Gold Member Username: 420alldaylongPost Number: 1624 Registered: Sep-06 | WERE TALKING ABOUT JL AUDIO. |
Silver Member Username: SkiesCourtenay, British Colu... Canada Post Number: 635 Registered: Aug-05 | Joey, then you are saying that JL is lying about the output of their products? Do I have to email them, too, to find out the real answer? I remember the outcome on the NINe.1 efficiency thread. Do you? |
Gold Member Username: OlegSanta Monica, CA USA Post Number: 1210 Registered: Nov-04 | SkieS, can I be on your team??? lol BTW dude, your grammar and punctuation are awesome! |
Silver Member Username: KillswitchjdPost Number: 494 Registered: Apr-06 | jl makes great products. as for output, unless I saw the number on the instrument used by glasswolf to test it the result is impossible to prove. However, I trust glasswolf 100 % if HE would come on this thread and say what it benched. |
Gold Member Username: 420alldaylongPost Number: 1625 Registered: Sep-06 | SkieS How I'm I saying JL is lying. |

Gold Member Username: 420alldaylongPost Number: 1627 Registered: Sep-06 | ? If they put out more power why don't JL say so. |
Silver Member Username: SkiesCourtenay, British Colu... Canada Post Number: 644 Registered: Aug-05 | If you're saying that you heard from JL themselves, that JL amp slash series does absolute rated power, no more, no less, then you're saying that JL is lying. Again, JL Slash series amplifiers have been repeatedly teset to put out MORE than rated power. |

Gold Member Username: OlegSanta Monica, CA USA Post Number: 1219 Registered: Nov-04 | And I thought this was well known, but apparently not. Underrated stuff is for competitors to get away with using alleged less powerful equipment while getting more power from them that rated. |

Silver Member Username: ShadeMoxee, Wa U.S. Post Number: 233 Registered: Nov-06 | ? If they put out more power why don't JL say so. i think this comes down to the same concept Cable Internet companies use. Usually you'll order 3mb download speed but in when u goto download you're gettin 3.5mbs. i'm sure they over compensate for heat etc etc..jmo |
