why does the drive + play 2 use an fm transmitter?? why not a direct connection?

so you have the pioneer 9800bt - how long have you had it? how well does the ipod interface work? i was wondering if there is a noticeable difference between the speed of the 9800BT and the 7900BT ipod interfaces?

The D+P 2 can also be hooked up through AUX-In if the car's HU has one. They use an FM transmitter so the unit will be universal regardless of HU brand, stock or aftermarket and so you don't have to buy any adapter harnesses or anything, like the PAC products require. I still don't think the D+P is anywhere near worth the price though, especially if you're going to be using it as an FM transmitter.

i just in stalled this like acctually yesterday its a awsome alternitive but never i repeat never use a transmitter over hardwire if your going tobe using it in a highend system anything over stock or it will cost u a ton for a good one and sound like crap. the kit is great but a bit of a pain where to put the control knob and mount the screen so just take your time and it will be one satisfying setup u can't beat it. mines not a drive 2 system just the firts i just bought it for 100 from best buy cause i used the pioneer kit on my 4800mp pioneer hu and it was trash so iput this in and i love it u feel like ur using ur ipod no weird controls to learn.
