Hi Pat,

You need to purchase a "USB to RS232 adapter". This should solve your problem.

Pat - Verify that there are no conflicts with that port. Go to Device Manager and make sure there is nothing else using is. Sometime HotSync and other applications can cause this problem. Also you need to shut down your firewalls and Antivirus Software.

Last but not least, you have the correct cable so cable is not the issue.

If it has trouble finding the port, see if you can bind the USB-to-serial adapter's driver to a port equal to or less than COM4. The Pansat loaders don't usually go above COM4. Also, check you system log ( Start -> control panel -> Administrative tools -> Event viewer) to help troubleshoot. Make sure your control panel is set to "classic view".

On Windows XP, you can go into Administrative tools/Computer Manager/Device Manager/USB controller
and change the settings of your USB to serial adapter to allow only COM 1-4.
