Hi Guys and girls. I have a Sonicview 1000 with a Bellexpress vu dish for 82 and 91. Im really intrested in getting some more channels especially Indian and hence was recommended by people to get 119. Im wondering if it is possible to do that with my existing satellite, or do I need to buy another satellite and go through all the pain of installing it. Even if I do how am I able to hook up those extra wires into my receiver? Any help would be appreciated.....
Unless you have a toroid dish you will need a second dish to get the dish network sats. I've also heard of people using those old Primestar (?) dishes to get both dish and bev - but that's a hack.
You can hook up the extra dish and lnbs thru a disecq 4-port switch.
Ok so how many LNB do I need to have on my dish? one or two? also does it needs to be some special dish or something like that? I have a dish in my garage it says RCA and it has one LNB and lying in there is there anyway I can make use of it to get 148 since I live on vancouver west coast?
Mr. Perfect: You can only get 81/91W BEV or 110/119W DN with your dish. There is a newer combination DN LNB which will get 110/118.8W. 118.8W has many International channels, but they are somewhat different from the more popular ones on 61.5 or 148W. You need a separate 18" dish to get one of these, and in Vancouver you will scan 148W. With DN supplied (or BEV supplied) combination LNB, you may have difficulties with getting a proper signal through a DisEqC 4 to 1 switch, and you might be better off with separate LNBs for 82 and 91 W on one dish (or 110 and 119 W) and 148W on the other dish, feeding your receiver through a 4 to 1 DisEqC switch.
Hey Guys really apprecite your response. Thank you so much. Im also wondering if there is anyway I can install my dish without a compass? Because my previous dish is installed by Bell and I never had to install any dish in my life. Can you guys give me any tips and suggestions in installing a dish to 148? Also can anybody tell me if I need to do something in the receiver menu also after installation?
Well I can try your suggestion for sure and hopefully it should work. Can you also tell me what exactly is Grounding and how do I do that? Is it really important? Also if I get the direction right then is it possible to view it right away or do I need to do something in the receiver menu settings also?
