Two Kenwood 12"

My amp is a Rockford 301m punch 900watt mono. Can I hook them both up to the amp in any way?

The problem I am having is that when i run them as unmatched pairs My Kenwood 9152d goes into protection. the power ratings are compatibale but what causes the amp to protect?
