Bronze Member Username: DeadhorsePost Number: 72 Registered: May-06 | I think I'm ready to invest in some better cables, currently I'm still using the component cables that came with my TV and HD cable box and they have to be the cheapest things made. So what should I look for when buying cables? Obviously enough length but what's the difference between a $20 and $60 cable? |

You probably already know you can spend just about as much on cables as you want, but, as you ask, what do you get? Personally, I believe in the law of diminishing returns. After you achieve good performance with X dollars, every dollar after that is mostly vanity spending. My opinion is that true RG-6 cable with quality RCA phono jacks are perfectly fine. And you don't have to spend a lot on them either. For example: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10235&cs_id=1023502 &p_id=2769&seq=1&format=2&style= These cables are the heart of two systems in my home and I will attest to monoprice's excellent quality, price and service. Let yet another cable flame war begin.... |

This site has some great information and their cables are fairly priced (not snake oil). The owner is also VERY knowledgable. Even if you do not buy from them, you should read through their website. They use Beldin cable and Canare connectors. http://www.bluejeanscable.com/ |

Just for comparison, I made up some and I could not tell any difference between those and a set of $100 cables I had lying around. Make good terminal connections. There may be some equipment variables involved. |
