VIEWSAT ULTRA - Is it good?

I was wondering if anyone has the new viewsat ultra with the 32mb usb stick? Does it actually work by putting in the bin from your pc to the stick then putting the stick in the viewsat ultra slot and programming it that way.

I have the viewsat platinum right now and the serial port on my computer is giving me problems initializing, so i cant update my bin at the moment.

Does anyone know the steps to update the bin on a viewsat ultra? And is it worth buying to have as a reciever?

If so, where is the best place to buy a viewsat ultra?

Thanks!
Chinny

Chinny - Yes it works great with the USB Stick. The update is easy. As you already stated, you save the pgm file to the stick. Plug the stick into the Ultra and then go to the menu to update receiver. You'll need to go and open the file and update. But it is not a difficult process and it's why I'm pretty much giving you the quick down and dirty.

I live in Ontario, Canada. Where would I go in getting one with all the fixin's? Do you know where I can get one shipped to me for under $200 including shipping and duty? (if it comes from the U.S.)

More importantly is NOT the cost!...its buying a GENUINE, and NOT a clone/fake that many dealers will sell!

this site is very reliable and recommended

Here is who I've been purchasing from and in IMO very reliable. I have purchased many receivers from them and have spoken to the owner himself. Before them I was purchasing from SatPros. But I would recommend this along with LK's recommendation:

Thanks Mc Sunny. I just came back from T.O. on Wednesday from a Raptors game. If I knew then i would have stopped in to get one.

You you know of any place closer? like Hamilton or Cambridge or Geulph or Woodstock or somewhere else near there. Oakville even.

Thanks Chinny.

chinny: McSunny's recommendation is sound. The nearest to Oakville is Missisauga. There are 2-3 dealers there. I bought a Sonicview 4000 for Can $220 inclusive of taxes for a relative. Same place (authorised Viewsat dealers) sells Viewsat ultra for Can $250 all inclusive.
PM me if you want more details.
