I have 2 FI X series subs and just got a Memphis 16PR1KD yesterday for $80.
The subs are Dual 4 ohm & 250rms a piece and the amp is 300w @ 4 ohms and 1000w @ 1 ohm. Should i run it at 4ohms and see how the 300watts sound or turn down the amp and run it at 1 ohm?
I dont wanna underpower them, then again i dont wanna blow them either.

I would run them at 1 ohm. Those subs are from Fi so you know they can take more then they are rated for. I wouldn't be afraid givin them 350rms allday. Just watch the gain. When you set up the amp, turn the gain up until you hear distortion from the subs, and then turn it down some. Not the absolute best way to set the gain, but unless you have a DMM, it will suffice.

I agree w/nick. Gain low and that amp should work fine, and if you decide to upgrade to more powerful subs you can find out what that amp is really capable of.

i dont know if the voltage drops or not. I have a stock charging system ina 2000 Accord. I had to get a new alternator when i was running a 500/1. i have a brand new alt but havent seen a batt light or anything.

I was thinking maybe wires could be touching inside the box. But want to see if that could cause it before going in and taking my speakers out.
Also my box is kind small could that affect anything if my box was too small.

you could also run it at 2ohms and then the subs will get 300 a peice. All you need to do is wire each sub individually parrellel wiring and then they will get a 2ohm load.

its usually somthing on the output side of the amp. (amp to subs)...it could be it doesnt like the way that its wired idk.

did you make the wires come out of the amp and then split? if you did then mabey you could try and shove 2 wires into the + and - spots on the amp.

check and make sure you have no shorts.
