Silver Member Username: MgbcsLincoln, Nebraska Post Number: 188 Registered: Dec-06 | Proabably a dumb question, but just for reference, any idea what a L7 in a 2 cu ft sealed box(yes, sealed = bad for L7 I know) with 850RMS running to it would be hitting? I'm trying to determine whether I should get 1 or 2 15" Qs, based on what my ears are used to now. (Make sense?) Also, what would 2 15" Qs be hitting in a perfect setup like Mikes in a ported box with 2 of the KX 1200.1? |

Silver Member Username: Bump05We Stay Fly, 18 SX USA Post Number: 825 Registered: Aug-06 | I have a roush focus my box barely fits I take the right molding off its for a 18sx and I hit 146.2 on the tl on my wimpy box. at 35hz |
Silver Member Username: LoudonPost Number: 737 Registered: Jun-04 | yea man that focus hatch is crazy ... ben ... two properly powered q's with that power u might see high 140s ...prolly not in that car because the trunk is a coffin .. but itll be loud .. not sure if the seats fold down or not ... but if they do wall of f 2 15s if udont need the backseat .. stupuid loud ... |
Silver Member Username: MgbcsLincoln, Nebraska Post Number: 190 Registered: Dec-06 | The seats do fold down, but I am getting a Grand Cherokee this summer and thats what the 15s would go in. I wouldn't put them in the Sable. Would a properly power L7 in sealed box be hitting like 115??? (sorry if that's ridiculous, I have no idea when it comes to SPL level). I am just trying to figure out how big a change it would be from the 1 12" Kicker to 1 15" Q. |
Silver Member Username: LoudonPost Number: 738 Registered: Jun-04 | 115 a stock system hits around that area ... db wise a properly powered 15 l7 can give u very sufficient spl for a daily driver the q and l7 are completely different woofer .. sql is the q all day but the l7 will get very loud .. with decent to mediocre sq |
Silver Member Username: MgbcsLincoln, Nebraska Post Number: 192 Registered: Dec-06 | OK...well no matter what I will be very happy with a 15" Q I am sure. I am just wondering what kind of shell shock I would be in if I put 2 15" Q. My system is a sealed 12" L7, and it is like the 3rd loudest I have heard (my buddy has a middle of the line RE, and I heard a Denali with 4 12" L7s). Most of the people I know with systems have rather shitty stuff. |
Silver Member Username: LoudonPost Number: 739 Registered: Jun-04 | 2 15 inch qs is going to be very loud if its properly powered and enclosed .. thats without question ... also the l7s in the denali is gonna be the loudest spl out of the 3 ... middle line of the RE ... still gonna be a decent system regardless .. however the q's are going to be ur best sql setup ... something that i think ur going to enjoy ... regardless if u get one of two |

Silver Member Username: Rosrock2000Notre dame!USA Post Number: 213 Registered: Dec-06 | I havea question.. would an ssd ported(flatwound) taking 1100 be louder than a q sealed? |
Silver Member Username: LoudonPost Number: 743 Registered: Jun-04 | nope |
Gold Member Username: Tdeaton1021Near Tampa, Florida USA Post Number: 3689 Registered: Sep-04 | i beg to differ... same size and same power... i think the SSd wil be noticeably louder. but as chauncey said in another thread, why not just port the Q? |
Silver Member Username: LoudonPost Number: 746 Registered: Jun-04 | i dont think so ... ive heard it with 1090 watts benched and it was noticeably lower then a q .. by a small margin |
Silver Member Username: Fi_car_audioHades, NV Post Number: 110 Registered: Sep-06 | Same size sub and power, the SSD ported should be louder (in optimal ported vs sealed). And as Trevor pointed to something Chauncey had mentioned in passing to someone else in another post at an earlier time.... nevermind. Why not just port the Q? |
