I have 2 12" Alpine Type-R subs and a 1000x1 HiFonics Brutus amp. The problem is when I turn the volume up over half way the subs seem to make a popping sound and dont really produce any bass at all.
Clipping is basically asking your amp to do more than it's capable of doing, therefore, sending a distorted signal to your subs. The poping noise is deff a bad thing. To correct this, readjust your gain by setting it to the pre-voltage output of your HU and by showing the volume knob some mercy.
