Gold Member Username: WingmanaliveNj US Post Number: 2463 Registered: Jun-06 | This is fun, isn't it Arslan? In my experience in woodwoorking, here's a good tip: Do you have a table saw? If so cut yourself some strips of 2x material at a 45 dg angle. Use those strips to help "round" out the inside corners. It also serves as additional corner bracing. Glue/liquid nail the sh!t out of it and press them into the corners. Pre drill all your holes in the MDF, and don't RUSH! |

Gold Member Username: WingmanaliveNj US Post Number: 2469 Registered: Jun-06 | 2X4, 2X6, 2X8, ect... material. 1 1/2" nominal thickness. Set the blade on the saw to 45 degrees. Run the 2X material through to create the strips. Cut them to length, and glue/liquid nail the crap out of it. When the stock gets too narrow, DON'T try to push the wood all they way through!! Stop the end of the piece about 6 inches from the blade, then shut it down. (Keeping your hands as far away from the blade as possible). And please, don't cheat by reaching around behind the blade and pulling the piece through. I almost lost my thumb doing that. |
Gold Member Username: WingmanaliveNj US Post Number: 2471 Registered: Jun-06 | I'm in south jersey. But I have just about every woodwooking tool there is, and been bit by almost all of them. Love it to death. I have three compound mitre saws, three drill presses, lathe, air compressor, thickness planer, shaper, three routers, band saw, scroll saw, and everything in between. Topper of them all, I have over 16 cordless drills. Yes, 16!!! If it can be made out of wood, I can do it! |
Silver Member Username: Ars88Rotti Pit , Corpo... Post Number: 262 Registered: Nov-06 | damn..dont wanna lose my thumb lol dont wanna sound stupid or make u mad but i only understand about 65% of the stuff u said lol - when u mean the material..u mean mdf ya? - when the stock gets to narrow???? i dnt have machine blade if those are pointers for a machine blade lol..sry tho i might be able to get my hands on one..i will find out in a little while for dat |
Gold Member Username: WingmanaliveNj US Post Number: 2472 Registered: Jun-06 | When I say narrow I mean when you're ripping the 2X stock down, it gets narrower everytime you make a pass. When the fence of the table saw gets close to the blade, you can't safely push it through without risking a kickback and taking a finger. Stop the blade with the power switch, and crosscut what you need. As for material, you can use regular stud grade wood for the bracing, the kind you get at the depot. You could get fancy and use strips of MDF with the 45's cut into both ends, you just have to take that into consideration with the box's internal volume. |
Gold Member Username: WingmanaliveNj US Post Number: 2474 Registered: Jun-06 | Oh, and I never get "mad". Only even. |
