Which kind of cable are you using to download???, you must use a null modem cable, also you need to check if the serial port on your computer is not being used by another application like palm hotsync or any other handheld sync device....

I am using the right cable, I just programmed a Cools*t. It is only the pansat that is messing up.

Becky...

That error happens when the communication between the PC and the receiver can not be established, and it is normally due to a wrong cable or a wrong com port configuration, at this point I would recommend you to get the Pansat 3.38 loader from pansatusa.com and try to download using that one.

You said you are sure about using the right cable...have you downloaded a bin to that Pansat before using that cable you are trying to use now???....

I have used this cable to program a Pansat 2500, a Cools*t, and have programmed the Pansat 2700 with it a while back. When I couldn't get it to program earlier I went ahead and hooked up the Cools*t and it worked fine.

I know you are trying to program the 2700, but you said you already programmed a _Coolsat using that cable, the thing is that depending on the model of _Coolsat that you programmed the cable varies, that's why I put the description of the cables for the _Coolsat, which model of _Coolsat you downloaded with that cable???

How could you program a 2500 and the 2700 with that cable???.. 2500 uses a RS232 Straight, and 2700 uses a RS232 Null Modem, you can not program both receivers with the same cable unless you plug an adapter to convert RS232 Straight to Null Modem or Viceversa....it is impossible to program both receivers without using an adapter...

Pansat 2700 uses RS232 Null Modem Cable
Pansat 2500 uses RS232 Straight Cable
_Coolsat 4000 Plus uses RS232 Null Modem Cable
_Coolsat 4000 Pro uses RS232 Straight Cable
_Coolsat 5000 Platinum uses RS232 Straight Cable
_Coolsat 6000 Premium uses RS232 Straight Cable

The thing is that to program a 4000 Pro and a Pansat 2500 you use the same cable, but to program a Pansat 2700 you need a different kind of cable...

Both cables are RS232 but change on teh way the pins are connected through, RS232 Straight have the pins cabled 1 to 1 and RS232 Null Modem have the pins 2&3 crossed on each side of the cable...

It is not matter about if the cable fits....the connector is the same, the thing that change is the internal configuration of the cable......

The port at the back is DB9 for all of them, the internal cable configuration is the one that changes, that makes the difference, when I say that uses a different cable I don not mean that the cable has a different kind of connector, on the outside the connector is the same for all of the cables, but inside the cable they are wired different......
