hi,i have an acer travelmate 4000WLMI,the dvd drive/recorder is playing up and i would like to replace it,firstly would any drive do or does it have to be an acer?,and secondly,does anyone know how to remove the old one on this particular model?,thanks in anticipation..craig..
I have almost the exact same model as you (TravelMate 4000 LMi) and the exact same problem with the DVD drive. Did you manage to find out which drives are compatible and how to remove the old one?
I've read that many other people have had problems with this particular optical drive model (Lite-On 852s), so I'd love to know if there are other brands that fit this notebook (I'd hate to have to buy another Lite-On product). Many shops sell optical drives but all the models seem to have different dimensions and no-one seems to know what the rules are regarding compatibility. Please let me know if you've found out anything useful.
