anyway, i bought a pretty basic yamaha surround reciever from best buy prior to having known anything about what i wanted. I was wondering if anyone knew how to break it without voiding the stupid protection plan i purchased from them. I was looking to get a newer model with HDMI, and i do not need two receivers plus the cash i could apply from the prior purchase would allow me to get the model i want now.
basically, anyone know how to blow a amplifier in a safe way?
how long ago did you buy the receiver???? if it hasnt been 30 days you can take it back and get your money back, I dont see any point in breaking your amp, what will that do for you. all they will do is fix it for you. or just sell that one on ebay or something.
You could get a long extension cord and while it's powered up, toss it into a bathtub full of water. The damage won't look like anything that would result from defective parts and they won't fix it or give you credit for doing some thing so incredibly stupid but the receiver would be "broken". And depending on how much alchohol you had before you tried this, you might get about 30 seconds worth of entertainment out of this adventure in electrocution.
