I have a Yamaha Receiver and an older Toshiba DVD player. I thought I would go and get a newer DVD and bought a Sony NS55P. Well my old Toshiba has the ditigal audio optical on the back which hooks into the Yamaha. Well the new Sony doesn't. Now what do I do? Should I take it back and get a better DVD that has it? does it matter? If I don't use it am I getting the best sound otherwise? Please any help and suggestions are really appreciated and helpful to me.
You won't get 5.1 audio without using optical or digital coax. My Yamaha has a digital coax input on CD that I use for a DVD player since the 2 opticals are used for other things.
