Tuesday, October 17, 2006 - 00:35 GMT I had an 18 punch sub back in the day and I liked how low it got. Can a twelve in the right box get as low as an 18. The reason I'm asking is because I'm about to order a new sub just to get something different and was going to get a fi q or aq hd3. And I don't want to step up to an 18 q or a 15 aq if I don't have to... to hit the lows.

Tuesday, October 17, 2006 - 00:48 GMT a 12 can get as low as an 18 as long as they have the same Fs. The size doesn't matter, but generally larger subs have lower Fs, but not always. you want to look for a 12 with a low Fs. and then if you use a ported enclosure, tune it low, generally just above its Fs.

Tuesday, October 17, 2006 - 00:53 GMT take the new Fi Q 10 for example. the dual 2 ohm 10 can get lower than the Q 12. 26.2Hz Fs compared to 28.4Hz/ 27.1Hz Fs

Tuesday, October 17, 2006 - 00:59 GMT Thats what I didn't know if the specs on a sub will kind of tell you whether the sub can get into really low freq.
