this is just a hypothetical question, but, do u think if i had the same sub and one setup was 1 15 and the other was 3 10's which would have better sq, notreally sq but like better geared for metal type music

The smaller the sub the better the SQ is going to be. It doesn't matter how many of them you have, that will just determine how loud it will be. This is ofcourse considering that you are talking about the exact same model sub in the same type of enclosure! Because there are so many varibles.

here we fackin go....

if you different sizes of the same sub....you won't generally notice a difference in SQ going from one size to the next...it will get louder and deeper, but the sound should be the same(except for the louder and deeper part_...all theoretical of course.:-)

^^^ Like I said muddy, there are too many variables and SQ is pretty subjective anyway.

i have just done a bunch of research on this and talked to some other guys, and the FACT is if you have two subs with the same motor and VC only differnt size cones your going to get the same sound but like muddy said the 15 will be deeper and louder. SQ is not determined by the size of the cone! (maybe if your talking about HUGE woofers though)

with huge woofers(18+ inches) it can become a factor if the motor isn't strong enough to move the cone faster than say 50-60hz(due to unlinear VC movement or cone ripple)
