I've put my box back together with new screws, it's sealed 100% again but the median is still loose and I'm wondering if having my two 15"s in one big chamber would be bad for them or if it'll make 'em sound like crap?
They can be in up to 5cu/ft sealed boxes each, according to the specs.. but there'll be two of them in about a 4cu/ft chamber rather than 2cu/ft each.
Advice? should I fix the median or will it be fine?
See, I blew the box apart the other day, lol... so now it's kind of hard to put the median back in because I got the face back on and re-siliconed. I can get the median back in place, but as long as the subs are okay as is for now I think I'll blow it off until my new box gets here (still waiting for your reply email Marshall)
silicone? thats not a good thing to use to put that box together with.. liquid nails or wood glue .. and yes it would be stronger with the median. if you wanted to brace it without going through the hassle of pulling the box apart go get a few 1/2 rods of all thread.. some nuts and washers and have at it.
Uh.. okay, I guess I need to explain that the box was built for me about 2 weeks ago and I blew it apart when I hooked up my new xtant x1001, so I screwed the face back down as best as I could and sealed it with silicon :P The box is held together with staples, screws and wood glue but is sealed with silicon.. sorry for my poor description previously.. the median blew apart inside of the box and I was going to put a new one in but it was too late to do it once I got the face back on, plus I would have had to pull the carpet back off and the glue was just about set, so it probably would have trashed the carpet
It's temporary anyways, I'm waiting on plans for a new box
